    Hi there,

I was looking for a new camcorder and was in Harvey Norman last night. I saw a JVC one for around €380 and asked the store clerk how many mega pixels it had, he said he would check and when he checked he said the price was reduced to €199 but couldn't confirm the amount of mega pixels.

I asked if it had Wi-Fi, he said no it didn't (I didn't want to pay for feature of no use to me) so I bought it.

Since getting home I have googled the camera and it does have Wi-Fi and it only has 1.5m megapixels, way below what I was looking for.

The camera is in the same shape it was (it was ex use so just in a box) and I want to bring it back because it isn't good enough and the answers to my questions were either wrong or lacking information

They might let you change it or give store credit but that's up to them as long ad the item is not faulty you have no come back.

The fact that it had a feature you won't use doesn't negate anything. You also seem to have bought it without being told the megapixels, so were not misinformed. Talk to the store.

Harvey Norman are pretty good at 'change of mind' returns but there are conditions.
Their returns policy is available at their website.

Generally this info is printed on the box and many cameras have it printed on the unit itself. In fact, it's hard to find a camera that doesn't these days. Are you sure you Googled the right product?

Also 1.5 megapixels?? I presume you mean 10.5 mega pixels?

Again. up to the store but if the store weren't able to describe what they were selling you probably would have some leeway.

Thanks guys. Definitely not on the box or on the camera itself. I could only get the info when I googled it at home

What do you mean by "ex use"? Display model? Then you might have a problem:
We do not offer refunds or exchanges on clearance/ex-display/sold-as-seen items.

I would just try and see what they say, but under Irish consumer rights you have no right to a refund for "changing your mind" for an in-store purchase.
As other say, you can't really say you were misinformed.

re the pixels, this is the camera... am I right in saying it has only 1.5m mega-pixels

Hmm, looking at my old camera's spec it was the same but I didn't notice it then.. maybe I am being a bit fickle

Yep, spec says 1,500,000 pixels on the CMOS. Actual image is less though.

Given that you have a display model you are excluded from HN's returns policy but it's worth trying anyway.

This review has a picture of the model and it clearly says 'Wi-Fi' on the side???

What is the issue with the sensor size? The video output is full HD...
