Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. As the title says...

The issue seems to be that the water in the engine isn't getting to the radiator, I can hear the radiator fan going after just a short while riding. And it just culminated 5 mins ago in the engine water boiling over.

At first guess I think the water pump is broken, but won't be able to even look at it til Sunday most likely.

Anyone have any suggestions on what else might cause the problem?

The bike is now out of action because it's just not cooling at all so there I am without transport :(

Check the pump but your thermostat could be seized shut.

Any clue of the thermostat would be easier to get to? Would rather go for the simple stuff first :)

Gonna buy that today in the hope it's the part that'll fix it :pac:

It's real damn inconvenient not having a bike :( An hour and a half on a bus to go 12 miles, and I was still late for college. I couldn't understand why the bus wouldn't just filter up the middle lane :pac:

No need to buy the new thermostat immediately. You can run the engine with the old one removed.
Replace the housing cover and top-up coolant. Then see if problem is fixed.

take the stat out, look at it, place it in boiling water, see if it opens/closes, put in cold water, see if it goes back. it either works or it doesnt.

Worth flushing out the system and changing the coolant if it hasn't been done for a few years. Best way to clean the radiator is take it out and flush it upside down using a garden hose.

    Scrap the cap!
