Liverpool fans have a strange obsession with Mata

Do they. I just find it funny when fans abuse the ****e out of a player and then if he comes good you hear the old, I always backed him. A always knew he would make it. It happens in every club.

Then why make comments about Jose and Chelsea so if you don't give a ****.

Who was abusing the sh*te out of him?
And are they the same people praising him now?
You seem to think every single United fan has the same opinions.

There's genuine criticism and abusing the ****e out of him. Two completely different things.
Not sure who has been abusing the ****e out of him

Abusing the ****e out of him was very harsh in fairness. He did get a fair amount of criticism in fairness.

Don't they think they have a chance of signing him or something. Mata doesn't play for mid table teams.

Yes and from me included but he has been very impressive in the last two games in particular

Our most creative player this xmas period but this is what I have always wanted from him

Some sublime play today again from mata he could of had multiple assists today only for some poor finishing from rvp and fal

36 million or you could say 1 Markowitz plus one Balotelli for Mata

Money well well spent there for a world class player

Not looking too bad at all going into the new year - if we are within 10 of the eventual champion (City or Chelsea) then its a very good season IMO - odds on now for us to fight it out for 3rd/4th with the Arsenal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,992 ✭✭✭paulbok

So, on the turn, in 3rd place with 3 points to spare.
10 points behind the top, not impossible but highly unlikely. Still we are where you need to be in the unlikely event of both Chelsea and City slipping up to take advantage.
3rd place has to be the minimum target now and there is better to get out of the team. If whoever disturbed that Indian burial ground, puts everything back where they got it, then this injury curse may lift, we get a settled back 4, settled team and the attack can concentrate on doing just that.
Can't see any reason for not giving the FA cup a go now, further injuries permitting.

    pluses this season.
Some semblance of a game plan, what was missing last year. For all the new signings, it's mostly the same squad as Moyes had that has us in 3rd. Still a lot of room for improvement but heading in the right direction.
    DdG's form - outstanding
Rooney, like him or not, he's become very important to the team.
Midfield, we've finally got one (kind of).

    negatives.
Injuries aside, the 3/5 at the back is always worrying.
DdG's contract. sign him up Ed, NOW!
Falcao do we stick or twist? Still half the season to go, but for me, he hasn't done enough yet to warrant splashing out ~£45M on him. Now remember I did say 'yet'. He has showed glimpses and needs a better service behind him, a settled team will also help. I do think he can kick on now he's playing regularly.

    January transfers.
Can't see to many top targets being available in Jan, but if they do, and aren't coming back from long term injuries (Strootman), then we should be in for them.
We do need a CB, they 4 we have have showed they can do the job, Smalling recent run for example, but they just cannot be depended on to stay fit. While I think Vidic would be a step backwards due to the way he left and his form at the time, an experienced CB like him (dare I say a L.Blanc type figure?) would suffice until summer when better/ long term CB's would be available.

Overall you got to be happy with the situation. Sure, lots of room to improve in the team and LVG has baffled with selections on more than one occasion, but it's an upwards trajectory (w7, d2, L1 in the last 10) compared to the car crash that was beginning this time last year.

Incidentally it's enjoyable seeing Everton struggle after the abuse they gave Moyes last season.

They are slowly morphing into Wigan :)

We were just talking about it here at home - it's great to see them struggling after the s.hite Moyes had to deal with... They seemed to forget Everton were winning last season with a team Moyes built from nothing.

Have nothing but respect for Moyes, it didn't work out at United but he has never been bitter towards the club or fans... I still have a dark thought at the back of my mind that when Moyes returns to the PL or we meet him someday in the CL he will come back to haunt us - it's almost inevitable.

I think it was always going to be inevitable that Evertons league form would dip as they are giving the Europa a proper go.

No question about it, van Nistelrooy was an unbelievable player for us, and I loved having him play.
The manner of his exit soured it a bit for me however.

Looks like Shaqiri is close to a Juve loan with the option to buy.

That should end those particular rumors.

Delighted to see Everton continue the downward trajectory under him, only QPR concede more goals in the league, took him one season to undo all the excellent work Moyes had done with Everton defensively.

Couldn't be happier for him, genuinely.

On to United, though I didn't get to actually see much of the match yet I feel disappointed that we missed a chance to get closer to the top two looking at the other results, I saw Rafael on the field which please me and hopefully now he will be back in the team, Shaw also.

Anyone wanna give me a quick summary of the match? Who played well etc? On the phone so don't enjoy searching the thread for that :)

Best first half out of United this season. Should've gone in 4-0 or close to it.

Second half, foot off the gas as Spurs came back in to it. Defence held well though.

Rumours circling that Klopp and Dortmund have parted ways

Would be fairly damaging to his rep to flee during an injury crises...

Liverpool simply have to be in for him over Rodgers, surely?

Isn't today that Spanish "April Fools" kind of day? I'd be surprised if the roots of the Klopp rumours are not there.

If true (which I doubt it is) would that be the best chance to sign Hummel's, if klopp goes you could also see players jump ship

I guess it could do the opposite too, in that they close things down to give the new manager a chance to review the squad...

Only rumours at the moment, hope they aren't true and he turns it around

A few seasons ago he could have had his pick of any job in football you'd think. People question how good he is at bringing players in but he gets the team playing a great style of football

Liverpool would be stupid not to try but I think if the rumours were true he would be aiming a bit higher than Liverpool

"We have a fatigue recovery specialist," Louis van Gaal tells MUTV ahead of United's second game in less than 48 hours. "He was also with the squad today for the first time because recovery now is very important."

If we can hire a injury free specialist that would be great as well!

Said I would be happy enough with 4 points from Spurs and Stoke and I still would.

Very pleasing first half. Felt we were better side, but its no defeats now since City.
