Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No Hererra makes me sad. Think we need someone like him in place of Jan.

I know he got injured a while back but has he fallen out of favour now?

He's recovering from a broken rib. Played against West Bromwich and couldn't handle the physicality while recovering. My guess is he's not 100% yet.

Fair enough. I guess if you have to mind yourself then it's probably right to not be selected.

Might be taken out of the team to give him a chance to recover fully from the rib injury and maybe also a chance to bulk up a bit so he can handle the physical side of the PL.

Januzaj should really be bulking himself up ala Ronaldo

Take him out of the team to bulk up for the PL and replace him with Januzai, the biggest weed in the league?

Any word on Rafael? He wasn't mentioned as an injury in the press conference Friday, I love him but I am afraid he is just never going to be able to be relied upon for the long term.

Not very confident after seeing some of the names, looking forward to it anyway though, makes a nice change from dreading games last year!

    Why can't Zabaleta be a red? :-(

Think Van Gaal said Rafael was injured in training so Valencia has come in to right back.

Yeah like Silva, Iniesta, James, Isco?

He also said Rooney would be bulking midfield so expect him at #10 and not Fellaini are rumoured.

Wilson should be on after half time if we're not threatening up front.

    No.

    No.
Edited my post but anyway, yeah, he should.

He's in better form than RVP or Falcao.

It's like he forgets the basic functions of a footballer when he's been out for a while. There's the excuse of lack of match fitness for some things but not for a lot of the problems he does have.

This is a great game so far. End to end, errors and both teams going for it.

    Fcukin Jan.

    DDG though, swoon.

See thats why Smalling and the like should never be starting these big matches

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,222 ✭✭✭✭Will I Amnt

I hope he gets a solid punch off van Gaal. Standing in front of that kick out was f*cking idiotic.

We need to buy a CB that isn't ****ing brain dead

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,930 ✭✭✭KH25

Smalling is an idiot. A stupid first yellow and a moronic challenge to get the red.

I could forgive the tackle, there's mistimed tackles all the time but that first one... It's a f*cking kick out.

Best chance to get something at The Etihad, ruined by stupidity.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,193 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

What a stupid red card to get, just stay on the feet.

I don't agree. Mistimed tackles happen but when you're on a yellow you need to be smart and not go to ground so easily.

The more I see of Rooney in midfield the more he looks very average

Yeah but taking them as individual instances the first is by far the worst. It leaves you unable to mistime a tackle or sacrifice a yellow for the good of the team. For a defender it was moronic in the extreme.

I've never seen Niall Quinn, Jamie Redknapp, and Graeme Souness all look so bloody pleased with themselves.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,362 ✭✭✭K4t

Wilson should be brought on for RVP.

Need some pace up there now. Would be great experience for him too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,902 ✭✭✭MagicIRL

This is now, ironically, the perfect game for Welbeck to play the lone striker. Hah.

Nice of sky to pick three of their most detestable pundits.

Yeah, you're right. Let's throw an unproven 19 year old while we are 1 man down and need all the experience we can get into the biggest game of the season.

    You are dead right

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,930 ✭✭✭KH25

We need players badly. A new RB and at least 1 CB.

  • Registered Users Posts: 159 ✭✭CantonasCollar

Would have been content with 1 point before KO, going to be tough now.

Di Maria is the one player we have that can open them up, need to get him more involved.

Ah here there isn't much need for that sort of reply. I think he has a point.

RVP has been pretty much isolated all game. Good player that can show brilliance but Wilson is a bundle of energy.

I wouldn't mind seeing Wilson come on with his pace and passion, and I imagine a lot of fans would too. Experience is all well and good but at the end of the day it comes down to 45 minutes of football. If Wilson can offer his pace and no doubt drive to do well in his first derby why not stick him on and hope he snatches us a goal. We will be relying on quick counter attacks now that are down to 10 men.

Gone to this stage that I really dislike seeing Rooney playing for us

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,930 ✭✭✭KH25

This is looking bad for Rojo.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,362 ✭✭✭K4t

Wilson and Giggs should be on for the last 20 minutes.
