The United Twitter account is always fairly vague. Do any of the Journos tweet live updates from Pressers?

Jesus Christ our defensive injury crisis bates all out - we have no luck at all. Valencia - Carrick - McNair - Shaw probably tommorrow... Absolutely killing us.

When was the last season we didnt have an injury crisis at some point?

I really honestly cant remember !

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,846 ✭✭✭✭Liam McPoyle

Tomorrow really is a must win game.

If we have any ambition to get 4th then we need to be tonking teams like Palace.

We have been playing well the last couple of games and I know we have an injury crisis that is gone beyond laughable but anything less than 3 points is unacceptable.

At least the international break is coming up, so we may have a few back for the Arsenal.
Although that's almost exactly what was being said just before the last international break......

I can't remember the last time we've had everyone fit at the back. Back in Fergies days I can remember Carrick and I think Fletcher played center back in one game. It's been ongoing for years.

Rafael is still out. I'd like to see

    Valencia McNair Blackett Shaw

Really don't want to see Carrick in an centre half, he did well at city but that was down to them being pretty poor on the day. With all these injuries we need to have sufficient cover and the young lads deserve the nod

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,369 ✭✭✭UnitedIrishman

Don't care if he goes onto score 20 goals this season - which I really doubt he will - I hope to god we don't throw away 40m signing Falcao at the end of the season. He's clearly been rushed back from a very serious injury too quickly.

i think id rather carrick in there with mcnair as that would leave a very inexperienced lineup and think we might get away with it with crysstal palace

LVG now looking for 3 years to rebuild the club. At the start of the year it was 3 months. Think it's time to start producing better results and less of the excuses.

Realistically if he had us winning the PL and in contention for the CL in 3 years I'll be delighted.

The only "excuse" he has mentioned is the lack of defenders. Hardly his fault he inherited a squad made of glass! I think he's probably not far of in saying it will take us 3 years to get back to our best ( competing at the business end of the champions league)

I'm happy we are seeing progress and I am looking forward to every game something which didn't happen last year!

I like Blind, he's a decent player and works very hard but one thing he's definitely not is fast, in fact he's one of the slowest players in the league!

Carrick is slower anyway, and hasnt the stamina reserves Blind has. Would like to see Carrick get a run at centre back now with the injuries though, brought a bit of order to the defensive line against city i thought

3 months to imprint his philosophy. 3 years to rebuild the club. Different things, would have thought that was obvious.

    In what way?

He didn't say he would rebuild the club in 3 months

Someone else has actually already pointed out what he did say, but to be clear.

He said it may take up to 3 months for the players to fully grasp his philosophy, maybe even longer, maybe less time, but usually around 3 months.

There is no mention of rebuilding the club in that. The only thing he said before about that was the he has 3 years contract and he will leave the club in a better position then what he found it.

Think this Is very much the case. Seems like he underestimated the size of the job. Also I feel as though he underestimates the so called weaker teams in the league. It's been a major learning curve for him. Hopefully he can pull it together for the second half of the season and we can guarantee at least 4th.

Well we are 3 months in and we have 3 wins from 10 games so If they have "grasped" the so called philosophy then it's going to be more sad times ahead.

    Your arguement is hypocritical.

Those 10 games came when they were 'grasping' it. We have seen some good performances, now to just convert those draws and missed chances into wins

There will be no more sad times ahead. The City match was the last game that Manchester United will ever lose. From here on out it's 114 points in the league and a Champion's League trophy every season.

Why wouldn't it take three years?

United can make massive improvements on last season in the current year, get into Europe. In year 2, look to kick on further home and abroad. To get to Real or Bayerns level it doesn't look unreasonable to suggest it would take another season to really be a force domestically and in europe.

Well, ignoring any glaring problems with this argument. Why not judge him on the next ten games, since the team is now after reaching the 3 month mark and see if you rate his managerial ability then and his future seeing ability. If you accept the 3 month mark then surely you always write off the first 3 months results as irrelevant since they were in the "grasping" phase?

Its hilarious to think there are some people out there who actually believe the English league is something Van Gaal would be underestimating, or underestimating the weaker teams in it in fact, a guy who has managed in Holland, Spain and Germany not to mention International level would be on a steep learning curve when he came to England :)

    Priceless.

To reach the level of Real or Bayern from where we were when he took over 3 years is probably being a bit optimistic of him tbh :)

Well yes but it would have to be the aim that at the end of the third season, might not happen / very hard thing to happen of course but should still be the aim.

I probably should have said it wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest it will take three seasons or more likely longer to get to Real or Bayerns level

I really dont need to explain why not keeping a player who has just scored 20 goals in 18 games is stupid
