Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. 3 home defeats to midtable or lower quality teams. While improvements have been made the proneness to cack results remains

Rafa's always had that effect on teams for some reason. Can beat any good team but his sides will drop some points to the lesser ones now and again.

Still don't see any scenario in which Newcastle aren't promoted though, the squad and manager is a level above the championship without a doubt.

Not overly worried, 3 matches in 6 days, manager took a gamble that didnt come off. We move on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

This is very one sided. Need to make these chances count

27+ shots and we still end up losing the game. Alright, penalties were rubbish but there's not much management can do for us there at the end of the day.

Another bad day at the office in a game we utterly dominated.

Great opportunity to reach semis gutted

It is a worry that when Gayle isn't on form there isn't much goals in this team.

27 shot, hit the woodwork a couple of times, 65% pos even before the sending off. Isn't that what's supposed to happen to the team in the higher league to allow lower league minnows win?

Anyway, we dominated a premier league team last night. Despite the result it has to be a positive sign of where we are as a team

Exactly, on another night we come away winning 5/6-0.

Having slept on it, it's still obviously gutting that we got knocked out in the latter stages of a cup run.

    BUT

At the end of the day, promotion is the main goal here but the way we have conducted ourselves in the league cup and against a Premier League team are positive signs indeed.

Losing on penalties is not as worrying as some fans make it out to be. Conditions throughout the game didn't help us and misfiring strikers was frustrating but we're creating chances and given how often Rafa rotates the team, these chances are going to be converted. It's just a matter of time.

Solid cup run. Shame it had to end but we have other priorities to focus on.

Shelvey on the downward spiral by the looks of it. Perez off I think and bring in diame or even tiote. Great save by darlow. We can still nick something.

Thought shelvey should have been rested regardless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Handbags for Shelvey imo. The linesman got conned by the player holding his face

The two Clarke decisions also probably wrong. Getting the rough end of the stick from the ref. Hopefully he evens it up

Shelvey unfortunately is an absolute liability despite his excellent passing range, he's guaranteed at least one red card a season with his short fuse.

Newcastle still look better even with 10 men though, a win certainly isn't unrealistic.

    Certainly not dull anyway!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Farce of a half from our perspective where we were exonerated by our stupidity, the refs stupidity and two blind linesmen

Dunno how we are winning considering. Hardly going to hold out with 9 though.

Only joke is the ref sees the Clarke mistakes and tries to even it up

Lansbury is a bi**h, haircut makes sense now! We have dominated with 11,10,9 lol should bring on Lazaar and play 5 at back, diame for Perez too

No coverage or mention of the disallowed Clarke goal or Clarke being hauled to the ground in the area at HT?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Can someone outline the key talking points? Can't watch the game.

Clarke hauled to ground I area, no pen
Shelvy scissored to the ground, half reacts, forest player rolls around holding face. Penalty and red. Pen saved
Clarke goal disallowed for shirt pull when he was having shirt pulled not the other way round
Long ball over Dummet. Forest player stops and Dummert knocks him over. Pen and red, stupid from dummett. Pen saved

    Nufc in complete control

Nufc goal was jammy, double deflection ended up a nufc players feet. Whack

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

    Gona be a long half

Ah well, we tried out best gAyle and ritchie worked there socks off. Aswell as everyone else. I think memba should have come on and Clarke ou the left.

Maybe mitro could have come in but what can you do. Very hard to hold out with 9.

Looks like shelvey is gone now for a long time if that hearing goes through. Possible 8 games now with the red today. No playmaker so rafa may need to go into the loan market. Especially with the African players heading off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

At least we tried, last seasons sad acts would have rolled over! Players actually trying! A sight to behold!

Dummet card will be overturned, shelvy also possible. The exaggerated face holdig got him sent off not the half hearted handbags. Stupid, yes, red card, hmmmmm

Two yellows., cop on lads, we move on

Think we might buy if the right player is available.

I think we missed a trick when we knew the hearing is on the Horizon ... an Gerrard looked like he was available

Dummets should defo be overturned, not sure about shelvey, he has a reputation so it will go against him.

Ref was terrible, sure what did goufrann even get booked for, really bad decision.

Still top of the league but we defo need a playmaker to cover johnjo. Alan judge back fit? He could go in the market for him again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,833 ✭✭✭NufcNavan

The Forest player was a bellend but Shelvey still kicked out. It was a red and won't get overturned.

The other one was a joke.

Also thought Clark's disallowed goal was very harsh.

On the Shelvey incident, Shelvey was surely fouled first hence free out. Penalty for reaction to foul?

I thought he had missed the foul entirely. Could be wrong

Suspensions withdrawn for Shelvey and Dummett. Right decision IMO.

Thought shelvey would have went through surprised but delighted.

We need to start picking up points again and he is an integral part of it. Next week is the big one now for his private hearing.

Farcical that the referee won't have to face consequences for his performance. One of the worst I've ever seen

Bear in mind he hasn't started all of those. I think it's a goal every 80 mins!

Seems to be he said he said tho ...

Wolves took over a month to report the alledged incident.

Players that reported it werent sure what was said

    ...

    Apparently it was proven...

How do you 'prove' something without video footage or the officials hearing it? Just comes down to who the panel believe.

    :D

Its almost like the fans who watched him for 2.5 years knew more about him and his failings than supporters of other clubs. Weird

Pardew sacked by palace 5 years into his 8 year contract with Newcastle :):):)
