Advice on finding bandmates?

    I've been playing guitar for over 10 years now, but I've always found it difficult to get any regular jamming stuff off the ground.

    I trawl through the musicians wanted forum regularly but usually people looking for guitarists want you to drop everything and join a gigging band right off. I'd rather start something more casual and build on that.

    Anyone have any advice on how to get something like that started? Are there any other good sites for finding bandmates?

    All you can do is to keep trying, giving as much details as possible. Other sites you could check out are :

    www.gumtree.ie

    http://www.bandmix.ie/ - free to join, but you must pay to communicate with others.

    <snip>

    Everlong1, this is not a forum for finding bandmates, nor is it a forum for promoting your music. This thread is about the OP seeking advice. If you'd like to contact the OP directly, please use the PM function.

    Why dont you start a thread of your own giving as much details as possible about what you want/dont want ?

    I second the above, have you tried these? I always see people on these looking for people to jam with. Also, have you tried meetup.com? There may be a group on there?

    I've made a few of those. Gonna make another soon, probably with some videos of me playing

    Yeah, you have to keep plugging away at it until you get what you require.
