Studying medicine abroad questions

Alright so I have an interest in studying medicine in Ireland and I'm keeping engineering as a back up if I don't get into any courses here.

But, I started considering the possibility of studying medicine abroad somewhere in Europe and how I would go about it. I have plans of working in the US no matter which path—medicine or engineering, so would the degree be recognised in that country? Would it raise/lower my chances of landing a job?
