Good luck to anyone still waiting. So disappointed with appeal decision.

Also rejected. Would like to know on what grounds. Very vague email

    To the 2016 thread :(

Any of you guys going to do the revision course?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 2014DCR

I predict low overall successful appeal percentage based on higher pass rates.

Revision Course for Core or Elective?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭Mgoraf

I failed core(1 red suffiency 0) don't think I'm going to do the revision course though.

Anyone else heard anything yet? Still nothing this end. #menerves

Is this the extenuating circumstances or clerical appeal? I applied for the clerical recheck and heard nothing - I thought the results were out in January?

Only extenuating circumstances today as far as I am aware.

I should have gone down that appeal route. Looking at the stats 7% of extenuating appeals are successful vs basically 0% for clerical.

I failed tax (which I passed in the Mocks!!). I'm doing the revision course, as they institute said you have a better chance passing if you do the course.

Yeh, nothing to do with the fee.. IMO it is all about technique at FAE. Technical knowledge is almost irrelevant. Finish the paper. Elementary but cost me in the elective.

Yes i would advise doing the revision course. You get access to the new steps cases which are essential and get to do the mocks and in fairness its cheap for the value. Did it myself and passed 2nd time round.

I independently passed all FAE subjects over 2yrs and even with legitimate extenuating circumstances they refuse to pass me!! I've worked with so called FAE superstars for years who are brain dead in the field so it just leads me to believe either I'm easy pickings to drain money from or I'm not considered a part of the "elite PO BOX" group. Good luck to everyone considering repeating in 2016, I'll be making the move to ACCA

Good luck with ACCA. A know a few people who moved and all qualified now.

I am entering year 7 of this marathon as a result of rejected appeal. I now see an interim assessment has also been introduced for the elective. Another exam..

I'm in awe of you!! I sincerely hope you get it in 2016 best of luck!!

I'm raging I didn't make the move last year but I didn't expect to fail again gggggrrrrrr absolutely ridiculous marking scheme!!!

    Thanks.

I thought with genuine extenuating circumstances, a sufficiency of 1 in elective despite not finishing the exam (sufficiency 2 the first time) and 6 years of determined effort they might have given me a break but obviously not. Apologies if I sound bitter. Well done to everyone who was successful with your appeal.

Let the bitterness out ;-) I'm close to taking up boxing just to vent!!!

I have just signed up for the revision course. Would anyone happen to have a copy of the timetable from last year so I can get an idea of the types of classes that will be held. Thanks in advance

Ok so I failed last year and made the decision to repeat. Not sure how I feel about it right now after sitting the disastrous mocks today and yesterday. I went in with a good chunk of revision done and they went no better than last year when I had nothing done.

Can anybody advise how they got through this? I know everyone says cases cases cases but surely you need to know the content too? Is there anything in particular I should be preparing like flashcards, summary notes etc.

Any help would be appreciated because I might go insane if I have to repeat

I failed 2 year ago (passed the elective) and passed the core last year (just about!). I put alot more effort into the structure of my notes in general and an "A" folder last year. Hard to say how much it actually helped in the exam but it probably helped with learning the material.

I was in a similar situation to you this time last year, I wasnt up to much in the mocks, but I found it a bit easier to get through the material when on study leave because I had been through alot of it before.

Not sure I was any better at getting through full cases though. Don't think I would ever have perfected the discipline of doing full cases under time constraints.
