Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We need Mcgeady out wide and Hoolohan on the park with preferably Whelan off it.

I worry for my opinion when I find myself agreeing with Eamon.

No conviction with the ball says the lads? We have a midfield that includes Quinn, Walters and Whelan, they have zero ability on the ball, they're just workhorses and we are set up to work. We are not good enough to keep the ball against Germany.

We're struggling against ye to create any clear cut chances. If you could play the ball out with any kind of confidence ye could do a job on us. But no offense ye look woeful going forward. You can hardly call it that. Your best bet seems nil all.

    Dunphy never disappoints

Away to world champions,go all gung ho get beat 5 or 6 nil,he would be on complaining that the team should have been set up to frustrate the Germans.

We could be better when we do get the ball though.

Eamo is right about our attacking game but he should acknowledge we have been solid enough defensively.

    Nein.

I seen umpteen positive passes on on a number of occasions but rather than attempt them we went back to keeper and punted it long.

    Thats fairly obvious.

Thing is if we concede I can actually see us trying to play

    it'll be too late then

Its Trapattoni but just for this game.

In fairness he's not asking for gung ho but he hates long ball and poor passing. Can't argue with that.

We need to show off our Long Cox up front. Give the German the Willies.

I think we're more fond of showing them our long balls myself.

He's not asking to go Gungho. His points are 100% Valid. We've a winger in CAM a Striker RW and a CAM on the bench... Made no sense. Mcgeady RW should of started. Walters CF with Keane. Hoolahan 2nd half.

Dunphy really does go an as if he hasn't a clue sometimes.

"why aren't they giving players a chance instead of pumping the ball up the field"

Because they're not fooking good enough like!

He seems convinced that our players are world class giant killers when he uses that line of reasoning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,243 ✭✭✭✭briany

Its Trapatoni but just for this game.

Would you say the same about Mourinho when Chelsea played Barca?

To be fair, there were relatively few complaints about Trapattoni's away record.

It's not pretty to look at but it's effective. MON has got them to half-time without conceding. Hope these tactics can see it out now. We will need fresh legs at the hour point i'd say.

Get Gibson and Hoolihan onto the field and get some passing going

    Whelan is a statue

Hamilton bitching for 45 minutes then as soon as the whistle blows it was a half "well worked" and a job "well done". Lolz.

Hamilton is clueless, spent 30 odd years commenting on a game he knows very little about.

it's not about being gung ho... it's about actually playing without fear and passing the ball a few yards ahead of you to a player who made a run forward... that's not gung ho... that's how you play football.. pass and move, not pass back and back to the goalie and then hoof it up...

the players have no trust in each others ability whatsoever, is this coming from the manager ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,610 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Haven't seen the 1st half. Is McGeady playing in a central role behind Keane? If that's not working, hopefully he'll switch him for Hoolahan.

Youre last sentence makes a lot of sense...

I didnt see many passes on myself, maybe Im too busy talking rubbish on boards...
What about fear, I think it is the fear factor that wont allow a lot of the players try and play it forward.
As Brady says, Its "nervous play"

When you have an average team it is easiest to get attention by shouting on about how it's the managers fault instead of facing the difficult truth. Basically, he's a populist, attention seeking muppet.
