Hopefully Maguires injury is not too serious ....the back is a worry hes a huge loss to both Seniors and u21s ....Cussen to start against Donegal ?? ....has to start somewhere and i agree with you GARY u21s should be left alone now....mind you at the moment O Driscoll, Maguire and Kevin Crowley and Cathal Vaughan are all injured ...the latter two have no luck with injurys Vaughan has missed the last 2 u21 championships with injury a big loss in terms of our All-Ireland bids ....all 4 are our leading u21 players .....can anyone tell me where is Alan Cronin of Nemo did not play Sigerson this year ....still good enough to be on the senior panel in my opinion.

Too many cooks, spoiled the broth.
With Flanagan there also, that makes six opinions.
Unwieldy and utterly impossible. Just look across the border and count the opinions in the Kerry dugout.
    Why can't we learn?

    Fitzgibbon Cup Quarter-Final Draw

    Cork IT v NUI Galway
CIT going steadily will have a good chance may be under pressure a bit at the back when it comes down to it, short puck outs to there weakest line on the filed may be decisive but when they move the ball from the half back line forward they look impressive. Need big performances from their inter county stars to progress.

NUIG are solid at the back and if Duggan and O'Brien continue their form they may cause a upset, but with home advantage CIT should come through by a point or two.

    Verdict: CIT

    UL v UCD
UL prob favorites for Fitz now but LIT knocked a stronger UL team out of it last year. A injury to Kelly or Forde would be a huge blow for them. They would only love to win the Fitz over in LIT.

UCD solid at the back but lack fire power a major concern, only Ó Ruairc, Cronin and King at times up to it, no upset on the cards here.

    Verdict:UL

    Waterford IT v Dublin IT

I fancy WIT to win it out, were very poor against Mary I prob underestimated them on the day, but with Mahoney, Gleeson, Langton, O'Neill, O'Brien, McGrath and Dillon all available to play upfront and Hamill, Teehan and O'Dwyer at the back they will be hard to beat.

DIT will need Bergin, McNicholas and Guiney to have the games of their lives if they are to advance to Moylish for the weekend. Unfortunately cant see it happening.

    Verdict: WIT

    Limerick IT v It Carlow
Davy V DJ, Davy has always got the best out of a average bunch of players the departure of Kelly to across the bridge a huge blow, will rely on Reidy,Killeen and O'Halloran for scores while O'Connell and Dempsey will man the defence.

Carlow with Taggy, Maher and Doughan will give LIT a game but with home advantage and the weekend ahead you would have to fancy LIT.

    Verdict: LIT

CIT, UL, WIT & LIT to make the weekend.

UCC disappointing, imo they have too many players 5 or 6 of their subs would get on most other team, not a mind the players that dont even play. Have to say Mary I slipped up too but have made huge advances in the last few years.

Down to the weekend who do ye fancy???

    It'll be close.

Fair to say UL and WIT have more 'stars', but CIT and LIT are more of a team?

UL freshers gave CIT a pasting last night in Mallow in semi final

all over after 20 mins apparently although CIT rallied second half to get back within 6 points

Where is ttm1 these days? I wouldn't have minded seeing his pre and post reports on the Harty finals.

Delighted for my old school CBS to win on Saturday last. Probably fair to say they weren't the classiest team to go through the school but there has been few gutsier than them. They scraped through the qf, semi and again were put to the pin of their collars at the weekend but came through the right side despite going behind with 5 minutes or so to go.

Couldn't attend myself but I heard rave reviews about Mallows grounds, supposed to be as good as any in the country. I'd also like to wish Rochestown the best of luck in the Football final, they were supposedly on top for long spells and only for an excellent save late in the match the cup could have been on Leeside Sunday morning.

Mallow a bit out of way, an d can be bottleneck but great facilities alright

It will ve very tough for Rochestown to raise there game now against Dingle going 4 in a row

Maybe the luck that ran out last weekend might come around for Sat

this competition has been made a mockery of with the appeals and objections

all that carry on a compleat joke

Its a pity cause its a great competition, only for it some lads would never have played for their county.
John O'Keeffe, Seamus Hardney and Richie McCarthy are just a few

But what has happened the last fortnight is like something you would associate with the government or the "King of the Sheep" competition on Father Ted.

Anyway the winners on Saturday wont care less what has went on the past week.

    UL V LIT
I think UL will have too much for LIT, once Reidy is marked LIT will struggle to score, Browne will probably pick him up, O’Connell & O’Halloran are fine players but they haven't got the firing power to win.
LIT deserved their win over UL last year but with Forde, McGrath, Bennett and Kelly/McInerney if fit will fancy their chances of going all the way.

    Verdict: UL by 6 points

    CIT V WIT

Potential to be a cracker. Both teams have plenty star names in their ranks but who will come out on top? CIT with Bubbles, Ellis, Walsh and Cooper/Coughlan if fit have enough fire power to beat anyone, my one worry with them is their full back line at times, haven't been tested yet and when their short puck strategy is applied they are under pressure.
WIT with only 1 of their starting 6 forwards not a inter-county senior add in Hamill, O'Neill, Langton and Roche to that and you have a fine balance, all fine hurlers the only thing that may catch them is their ability to win a dog fight, this is their weakness and the day Mary I beat them in Lim showed this, but with the talent on the team sheet I would expect to see them in the final V UL on Saturday.

    Verdict: WIT by 2-3 points.

Really strange and nervous game. With 15 minutes to go, you would've bitten your arm off for a draw but the way it finished it felt like it was left behind. Very scrappy game. Well matched sides, will be hard to pick a winner the next day.

yeah, looks like we finished strongly again, good to see. Kerry we well on top against Dublin today once they got going, particularly around midfield. Should be another tough game next Sunday

And an under 16.5 game midweek! Game should be played in Cork or Limerick this time - has been in Killarney for the last few years

Replay should be before the league game next Sunday by right. Kilarney might be halfway but it is very defiantly in Kerry and advantage to Dingle

So Galvin is back for Kerry.

I suppose Cuthbert is heading down to Cill na Matra after training, to see whether he can get Noelie back.

A Cork v Kerry Munster Final with Galvin and without Noelie just wouldn't be right. It would be like a Laurel and Hardy movie without Stan Laurel.

You beat me to it. I came here to post the same thing! The roar from both sets of fans when they would jog over to mark each other was hair raising.

What do ye reckon the team will be v Dublin? Big game for both players and managers of both teams, with a win likely to secure div1 status.
For that reason I cant see JBM making much changes to the team that started v Clare. With the lads hurling with Cork Colleges back now we probably see Cooper replace O Shea who didn't have a great game last time out and maybe Jamie Coughlan to get some game time. SON and Maccie to come back too, I can see one of them starting. Would like to see MacDonald replace Calahane. Big test too for Cormac Murphy who should come up against and in form Danny suttcliffe. We'll get to see how he does in Croke park also.
Id like to see Horgan at no11 but don't think we will. looking forward to the game now!!
I think JBM will play it safe and go with the following

    Nash
    Calahane Joyce O Sullivan

    Lorcan Ellis Murphy

    Walsh Kearny

    Lehane Cooper Harnedy

    Cadogen Luke Horgan

subs to bring on: SON, MacDonald, Coughlan, Paudie, Spillane (who should have got more time the last day)

Any chance he would drive to aghada or kealkil and talk to pearce or alan o connor because without maguire we are ****ed at midfield.I think we could be in big trouble sunday with collins and gould, vs kerrys multi options in that area. Not fair on collins as he is a fine half forward bit gould is only average at this level. Any work on defensive ans etc are worth nought if we are getton
    murdered inthe middle

Gonna be under pressure in Kerry game for sure.

Hats off to Fitzmaurice....he's done an amazing job.

    Overloaded with attacking talent.

The best midfield in the country in Maher and Moran.

While individually and on paper the backs look there for the taking he has got them organised in a solid structure and they are never let exposed tactically.

I think Cork will put it up to them but our midfield is under serious pressure...It will be a great test of our defensive structure and let's see if we can out think Kerry for once.

Try and turn this game into a war of attrition and devise a plan to get enough good ball into both our ace forwards Hurley and O Neil.

    Huge test of our management.

I did hear that Alan O'Connor was asked back to the panel last year at somee stage but turned Cuthbert down so I would say there is little chance of him coming back now.

Ya heard the same but no confirmation, not saying alan is the answer especially in croke park but where we are now we are way off the standard for midfield and not sure the likes of osullivan and kevin o driscoll are up to the middle third either.
if kerry were to win more ball then us there sunday which is likely we could be in for a long day,its only league but 2 losses on the trot followed by a trip north would have us right bavk into a relegation battle

Can't help feeling the midfield situation is a bit of mess largely of Cuthbert's own making - the injuries to Maguire and Deane obviously havent helped but the fact is that Dineen and O'Sullivan and O'Connor have all declined to be involved with the county while Walsh decided to go hurling.

I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been more negative reaction to the Donegal result - I watched it back and it was woeful stuff altogether from Cork while Donegal were only very average. Cork looked very much like a side who knew they already had 4 points on the board. I'd say the fact that it clashed with the rugby and was broadcast on delay meant that a lot less than usual bothered to view it.

The thing is though with 4 points on the board already and the form of Derry, Monaghan and Tyrone it's very hard to see Cork getting relegated now - especially when it looks like there is a serious chance that Derry will be relegated by the time Cork have to head there so will nothing to play for. I could easily see Mayo not hugely concerned about the result in that game especially if they manage to pull off a win against Dublin in round 5

Basically those 2 early wins against Dublin and Monaghan, which both could easily have ended up draws on another day, mean that Cork would really have to go on an awful run of form to end up getting relegated.

Sigh. League defeat equals predictable negativity.

I would not be a Cuthbert fan - in fact, I think that he was very poor in a number of areas last season.

I would place a lot of blame for the dual debacle on him - I suspect that Frank appointed him mainly due to the fact that he was prepared to try the dual thing - I seriously doubt that Cleary would have entertained dualism. IMO - Cahalane and Walsh would still be playing football if Cleary had been appointed but Frank must take a lot of the blame - but he doesn't care.

I don't think Cuthbert is to blame for AOC retiring - he has 2 young kids and the travelling was a big factor too.

I think Cuthert was too hasty in ditching Pearse and Kissane but they would probably have gone this season in any event - it's hard to call that one.

What O Sullivan are you talking about ?

I don't know if Dineen and O Laoire were good enough for IC but it's a shame that they never got a chance - however, the selectors saw them in training so you've got to go with them on this one.

We were dire v Donegal but showed fight and had a chance to draw allbeit with Murphy's red.

IMO - the jury is still very much out on Cuthbert - the bar is set very high with the great job FitzMaurice is doing but that's the standard and anything less is not good enough for Cork.

St. Francis College Rochestown V Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne in the replay of the Corn Uí Mhuirí final is to take place in Rathmore on Sunday the 8th March @ 1:30pm

Comhairle Iarbhunscoileanna Na Mumhan would like to clarify that they attempted to avoid a clash of fixtures with the national league football game of Cork & Kerry.

Due to circumstances in the schools, a date change wasn’t feasible and this binds the committee by rule to play the match as originally scheduled on the agreed replay date of the 8th March.

Comhairle Iarbhunscoilenna Na Mumhan has upheld it’s fixture procedure which state ‘that all fixtures will be played at a neutral venue with equal traveling distance for both teams unless otherwise agreed by both schools’.

    FFS!
Trying to listen to 103FM for the Cork/Dublin and they spend 10 minutes giving a preview interview with JBM whilst the game has started.

Great first half from Cork. Every Cork forward has scored!

Harnedy is so good he makes it look easy, the way he strokes the ball over the bar!

great 2 points from what looked a very tricky game beforehand. like a challenge game at times so little to be read into it really. good to see Steve Mc Donnell back but hopefully Chris Joyce's injury is not serious.

Best of luck to Rochestown tomorrow, time to finish the job.
