    Hi,
A hotel in Italy is offering a discount if paid in advance for a stay in summer 2015.
If the hotel went out of business before the booking, would such an advance payment be eligible for a chargeback/refund from Mastercard/BOI?
    Many thanks

    Hi devision,

Thanks for contacting us on Boards.

Generally, if the hotel went out of business, they would have their own process put in place for refunds. As each case would be different, we would be unable to offer advice here.

In the event that the hotel goes out of business, Bank of Ireland would comply with the terms set down by the company's liquidator. As a cardholder, generally you would need to make contact with the company first and obtain a letter confirming they will be unable to provide their service in order to raise a charge back.
Also, if a refund would be available, this would be mentioned in the hotel's own terms and conditions when you make the payment.

Please let us know if you need help with any other query.

    Thanks,
    Sarah
