Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey,

I hope someone might know of a bus/train/etc that I could take to travel between Kilkenny to Killarney at 7-10am on Sat 25th. Basically I'm going to be without a car and need to do it by other means.

I used http://www.journeyplanner.transportforireland.ie/ and its an epic 6 hour journey! As attached in the photo.

Car rental quote is €125 online with enterprise... An option I guess, but that's pretty heavy.

10 minutes between arrival and departure. Not a hope!

OP, if you can get a lift as far as Thurles or somewhere it would make everything a lot easier for you, from west Co. Kilkenny it's pretty much the same as Kilkenny. Even Portlaoise would be better than Kilkenny.

If not you could always get the 7 to cork and then there's a train from cork to Killarney at 1020, need to wait in Mallow for 40 minutes though.

You could get the 6:39 train ex Kilkenny; it will have you in Heuston for about 8:11 and plenty of time for a breakfast. From here take the 9:00 to Cork and change at Mallow; you will be in Killarney for about 12:18. A mere 340 minutes of traveling :)

OP it's not an easy journey I'm afraid.

    Your options are rather limited.

    Bus Eireann

    Either take:

Route 7 at 07:00 from Kilkenny Station to Cork, arriving at 09:50, then take the 40 at 10:00 arriving Killarney at 11:35.

If you miss the connection at Cork, there is another bus at 11:30 arriving in Killarney at 13:45.

    or,

Route 7 at 10:30 from Kilkenny Station to Cork, arriving at 13:35, then take the 40 at 14:30 arriving Killarney at 16:05.

You can get a through ticket for the whole trip either via www.buseireann.ie (saving 5% on the cash fare), or from the bus driver at full price.

    Irish Rail:

Take the 06:42 train to Heuston, arrive at 08:11. Then take the 09:00 service to Mallow, change there and arrive at Killarney at 12:16.

Take the 08:28 train to Heuston, arrive at 10:00. Then take the 11:00 service to Mallow, change there and arrive at Killarney at 14:16.

Take the 11:41 train to Kildare, arrive at 12:37. Then take the 12:58 service to Portlaoise arriving at 13:22, and then the 13:42 service to Mallow, change there and arrive at Killarney at 16:16 - this is the fastest option with safe connections.

Again you can book online at www.irishrail.ie
