looking to put together a prep kit to deal with an Ebola breakout, any suggestions on what to include.

Thinking more along the line of disinfectant, masks, eye protections, protective wear not the usual zombie apocalypse / teotwawki nonsense that usually pops up.

I've been listening to the BBC world service and they were interviewing some of the teams providing treatment on the ground. The precautions they HAVE to take to try to avoid infection are incredible. They were talking about how disinfectants and that type of thing aren't really effective, and the regime involved in trying to suit up properly, then disrobing after exposure is so complicated that even the professionals need to have a second pro just watching what they're doing to try to avoid making mistakes and gaining exposure to the virus.

I'd like to answer your question in a more specific way, but it's frightening how much effort the lay person could put into this and ultimately leave themself wide open still to infection. For that reason I'd say the steps should begin with preparing to avoid exposure to possible sources of infection in the first place, in terms of those travelling, confined populated spaces, hospitals etc.

For my own part I've equipped myself with 3M medical masks, 3M medical goggles, heavy nitrile gloves, Detol disinfectant soap and rubble sacks.

It's bloody difficult to say what else one could possible do to really mitigate risk, but I'd like to hear sensible thoughts on additional steps that could be taken.

Having worked in the pharma industry i can vouch for what they say wrt how difficult it is to maintain sterility.
It is a real art form to get in and out of sterile gear.

EBay or your local €2 shop for the overall but I'd hold off for a week or 2 as a lot of people use them for Halloween
