lads had a shop in athenry
    competition was muls and pp
ladbrokes was always empty and even on a saturday you would rarely see more a handful of punters
they closed up shop...little loss and not often you see that

I don't understand how they make a profit in their eyre sq shop with boyles a few doors away and pp across the road and the few times I've looked in the door it's very quiet in comparison
I'm sure just like athenry they are offering the punter nothing

    It's closed about 5yrs.

Agree, prices crap and no bog. They appear to be stepping back from retail and focusing online, as their acquisition of bv would suggest. I figured a few yrs ago that might be a good model but pp opening new shops so I guess a mix of retail and online is the best strategy.

Can I ask what arbing is?

    betting where profit is guaranteed

in mma for example you might see one fighter priced at evens and the
other at 11/10 with a different bookie

big stakes for a small profit guaranteed

They don't have a shop in my town but was up in Galway for the weekend and went to lads down shop street as it was the closest and they didn't show any live racing only commentary! Is this with all their shops?

They actually have higher prices online than in shops. Last twice I went to back in shop the price was bigger online

I find out this a few times when I went into shop to take a price that was stand out on a horse, 20/1 or so they went online.

I've no account with them, one of the few I don't, and don't want one either.

So off down to the shop I went, threw a score e/w on the horse, wrote down 20/1 on the docket, got to the counter and was told that wasn't the price. I pulled out the phone and said, yes it is, it's right here on your website!

Oh we don't offer them prices in shops as shops have overheads to cover so prices are less, pure bull**** story.

Fine I said and ****ed off and did it online instead with another firm and lost a few points but wasn't giving them my money anyway, horse didn't even place anyway.

amazed at that admission, disgraceful stuff

I've seen better prices on footie in powers the odd time I go to their shop
wrote out a docket at home, went to shop and price was bigger yet when I said it to them they looked at me like I had two heads

AFAIK each shop manager makes their own decision on whether to offer BOG or not. There was a Laddies in Trim that dropped BOG and closed down sometime in last year or so. The shop in Navan still does BOG and is still open.

One of the shops by me stopped the bog and in fairness it was the only bookies around a big estate. But after a few months they brought it back although i suppose you will get degenerates who don't care about prices.

But I didn't care about BOG if the price drifted, I just wanted €20 e/w on a 20/1 shot and not the 16/1 they were only giving in the shop.

Go into any Powers or Boyles and they have their website in the shop and you can take the prices off that no problem.

*The same ladbrokes I'm on about don't have any cups for water or tea, and you have to ask at counter for one, that's how tight they are!

The last line in this article tells you where they're retail is heading. Sober reading for those working in the shops.

Can you do that through the website or do you have to request it through writing?
