Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I suppose the enjoyment will come from seeing if Liverpool can get even a sniff of a result, the nature of the game will at least be better for Liverpool in that I can't see them lumping balls towards Ronaldo to knock down for Rodriquez!

Should just point out this game is also on RTE 2 HD

Well they survived Zamora, Vargas and Austin. This should be a cakewalk.

    Convincing home win!

And, of course, by 'home win' I mean away win!

    The pain train is coming.

Liverpool line up something like this.

    Mignolet
    Manquillo mistake mistake×2 Moreno

    Allen Gerrard

    Sterling Henderson Lallana

    Everyone's favouriteist striker.

It would be nice to play with 2 strikers to see if Balotelli would be slightly less useless than he was yesterday. He might pass for a change as opposed to shooting from ridiculous positions.

Wouldn't be surprised with a draw as bad as liverpool are playing. It's not as big a game for real and with them playing barca on Saturday they have bigger fish to fry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,592 ✭✭✭brevity

    Mingolet

    Johnson---Skrtel---Lovren---Enrique

    Gerrard

    Lallana---Henderson

    Sterling

    Pepe
    Ramos

    Bale will miss this game

I backed Madrid half and full at 9/5.

Think they will be too strong, but football can produce strange performances at times and its the kinda night that Pool will rise to the occasion and probably even Ballo, players like him like nights like this.

    Bale out injured.

    who's Bale's replacement?

Whilst agreeing Liverpool's defence is dodgy I often find when a bloodbath is anticipated then it doesn't happen.

    who's Bale's replacement?

I imagine they'll go with Di Maria oh wait....

Ronaldo, Bale, Modric, Rodriguez v Liverpools defense :o

Its gonna be a fcuking bloodbath.

Should be a big win for the away team, but it beats watching Eastenders.

Watching Real Madrid hammer Liverpool always beats Eastenders :pac:

Ok joking aside, I really can't see how Liverpool and going to cope with that attack.

Liverpool need Sterling on fire and also hope that Real have an off day.

The weakest link for Liverpool - Glen Johnson V Ronaldo

Whoever is up against Ronaldo will be a weak link judging by Liverpool's bungling attempts at defending lately.
Possibly double up on that side with the pace of Sterling an aid v Ronaldo

Liverpool's only real hope is that Madrid put out a team with Saturday in mind

Yes that is true however now that you've openly mentioned the anomaly you have only gone and put a hex on it.

    :(

1-0 Liverpool. Gerrard penalty(of course) followed by a heroic display by Kolo Toure, who comes on for the injured Lovren in the 5th minute and uses his big arse as a wall to keep Ronaldo and co frustrated. His arse is then giving the Freedom of the City and will eventually go on to marry the redhead from Atomic Kitten.

    Boring 0-0 draw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,492 ✭✭✭bennyineire

Liverpool have to turn it around at some point this season and what better game than this. Those predicting a blood bath or 5/4 nil are wide of the mark.
I reckon a score draw, Liverpool always put up big performances in big games.
Anfield on a champions league night is pretty special and I reckon this could be a cracking game, gonna go with 2-2

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,222 ✭✭✭✭Will I Amnt

I'd agree with Murpho, when you're expecting a hammering it more often than not doesn't happen. Everybody thought the same about United last season and it only ended 4-2 in Bayern's favour over 2 legs and United were so, so bad last season.

Agree that hammerings rarely happen when expected.

But I do expect Madrid to be just too good for them.

Liverpool will lose, but will not get hammered in Anfield in a European tie like this.

Scrappy 2-1 for LFC; goal-line clearances, penalty appeals for Madrid dismissed, jammyness ahoy

Game hinges on the midfield pressing. I'd play Henderson, Lallana, Gerrard and Can but in a tight diamond in the middle trying to disrupt. Sterling off Mario up front. Manquillo instead of Johnson, Moreno instead of Enrique. Do not want to see Markovic start

Start the game looking to disrupt their game and focus on counter attacks, 20/25mins in start to get on the ball more....if they score early it'll be a long night.

Hoping for an absolute cracker though!

I'd play that team with the exception if Allen for Can

    1-3

    Balotelli to score i reckon

Reckon we'll see Liverpool back to the same formation as last season with Sterling replacing Suarez and Balotelli for Sturridge.

Lallana Allen and Henderson ahead of Gerrard

Manquillo Lovren Skrtel Johnson in the 'defence'

TBH I reckon that's more likely but Allen is more lightweight than Can and I'd be worried about him in a game where he won't be allowed his normal passing game. Sure we'll see!

I think Ancelotti will put out a much weakened side tomorrow night with the Classico less than 3 days later and having to fly back to Spain .

Not my ideal (prefer two up) but I'd not be appalled at this.

    Mig
    Skrtel--Lovren-Sakho-
    Gerrard
    Moreno
    Hendo
    Allen
    Coutinho
    ----Sterling
    Balo

Liverpool's defence is awful, Madrid will be kicking themselves if they don't score 2 or 3. Think both teams will score

Can't wait to see Ronaldo and James up against Johnson and Moreno, two very poor fullbacks

Should be easy money for Madrid backers...

He is a liability tbh, both at Seville and will continue to be for Liverpool

For the big money surprised you didn't go for Rodriguez who is better, if United didn't get our first choice Shaw I would have taken Rodriguez in a heartbeat
