Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

it's very likely that we'll lose, but very unlikely that we get slaughtered.

Why? They did it to Bayern last year.

Syrely borini was worth a spot on the bench at least??

I'd much rather have him on the pitch over Balotelli in a game like this.

Liverpool don't have the defence to hold this game. Hopefully they come out and have a go at Madrid and we get 90mins of exciting football.

What I do like about this team, is that it's pretty much as close to last seasons team as possible.

Only Lovren and Moreno at the back, and Balotelli up front are new.

I don't expect this to go well, but I think it can only help that Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Sterling and Coutinho are all playing together.

That's not the case. If you laid Liverpool in every PL game since the start of 07, you'd have an ROI of 20%. The same with United, you'd be -5%. In general since the Asians took over, bog standard supporters and bettors have little influence on price, even in great numbers. Like I said, Madrid are the public team tonight, they are the losers in the bookies books. I'm surprised they drifted so much earlier, although it looks to be returning to normal now pre kick off

    Link? sounds interesting.

Are you sure the difference in the ROI is not because United have won more games than Liverpool in that period and Liverpool have been alot more likely to slip up against awful teams, if took it from last year you would probably see a different story for example?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,920 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Modric will have a field day.

Thats exactly the reason. However the markets never seemed to catch onto that fact, causing bit of an anomaly. It was +29% and -9% before last season respectively

And Kroos who I find one of the best midfielders and players in the world, why Bayern let him go is a mystery to me. He will run the show.

I can't see anything but a liverpool win here. It is just set up that way for me. Madrid might scrape a point but nothing else.

And it was unlikely then. Are southampton likely to hammer stoke this weekend?

Liverpool hammered Dortmund in preseason, who narrowly lost to Madrid in the CL last season, so Liverpool should be good here.

Henderson cost 20million? Good jaysus. Curiously, how much did Modric or Kroos cost?

Nice balanced team sky have tonight it seems

You'd think they'd get someone who could give some insight on Madrid instead of leaving it to Souness to waffle

Kroos between 25 and 30 million whilst in the last year of his contract and modric was 33 million, both on atleast double, probably 3 times the amount henderson is on. Henderson is often quoted as having cost 16 million btw

    Poor Johnson. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Why did he have to say Ronaldo's never scored at Anfield? I hate when people say those sort of things. He's nailed on now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,902 ✭✭✭MagicIRL

Sky really need some independent analysis. It's 100% Liverpool here and it's very sycophantic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Hopefully Johnson has been working on his shouting for any chance 'Ronnie' gets.

Ronaldo's never been sent off while playing in the CL at Anfield.

Madrid will win by 2 clear goals. Personally i would like to see a more balanced and confident performance from the reds. I'd also like to see Mario do a bit more than the minimum or "working hard" as some people say.

No disgrace to be beaten by these lads to be honest. We will concede goals but if we concede 5 or more ie a Leicester City style hammering, I'd be very disappointed.

I suppose the only worst thing than the likely hammering Liverpool will get tonight, would not being in the competition.

Well, to be fair, they cover English football. A European Night at Anfield is actually pretty special compared to your average league game.

The implication of "A magical european night" is that it's much better than a domestic atmosphere. Which it is.
