To be honest whatever happens, it's going to be an unreal night on Friday. I've enjoyed watching Dundalk this season and while I've always expected it from a City team, the drive and battling by us this season has been terrific. All we can hope for is a great match and no silly stuff from the crowds and it'll be a good night for the league.

Jaysus when was the last time a LOI game has gotten this much attention? Most week's threads have hardly 100 posts. Even in work, people who wouldn't be caught dead at a LOI game are talking about it.
I'd love to watch this but I'll be in the literal ghost town of the Bowl instead.

The impetus is definitely with Cork now after Dundalk threw away their lead. Will be a big call on whether or not to start O'Donnell, he might be a gamble after such a long spell out but could be the difference in a game Dundalk have to win.

Always something that got on my nerves! These pens have to be ordered in advance, t-shirts too. Was it an Arsenal or Liverpool "Champions" bus a couple of years ago doing the rounds on the net with the caption that they are cocky? Again it takes time to prepare so must be done in advanced. Same with booking hotels for the next round in Europe before qualifying.
It's not anyone being cocky, it's people being prepared.

    The tattoo is unforgivable though.

Whats the nonsense about having ordered 3,500 of them? Thats certainly rubbish for a start. I would say this is too.

Why would it be rubbish.Someone has ordered a load of pens in the hope a promotonial gamble will land. Those pens are about 2c each.No massive outlay even though it won't be happening ;)

Why make the gamble? Why not wait four days, when the result will be known? There'll be plenty of time after Friday for such commemorative merchandise for whichever side wins the league.

We sold similar pens to those before in the shop. They cost a lot more than 2c a unit. And we didn't sell even 350, let alone 3,500.

    It's absolute bollocks.

Gypsies Fan here - great to see LOI getting so much attention. Would like cork to win as they are a team who were bust a couple of seasons ago and great to see the crowds back at turners cross.

Based in scotland now so wondering if anyone knows of any streams where one can watch it live. RTE block access from abroad and cannot find a decent irish proxy.

I am hearing security in Dundalk is going to be laughable. Horses and dogs from the Gardai. The Gardai have also offered CCFC to give them an escort into the town as they are fully expecting the buses to be attacked! I hope they are just shítting themselves for no reason.

Dundalk for their part had their first security meeting for this match last night. The CCFC standard for a "category A" game is 2 weeks in advance. I have also been told there is no proviso been made for away fans being in home sections.

Pens? I know we are more intellectual down here but would we really order misspelled pens to celebrate winning the league? Tell that Dundalk fans who made it up to try again, very embarrassing again for ye.

I fancy Dundalk to scrape a goal and win 1v0. Hoban up front by himself and Meenan, Horgan and Towell breaking from midfield. I'd imagine Cork will not push the FBs forward at all and have someone tracking Towell all match. Dundalk will find it hard to break Cork down.
If Cork score (Dan Murray from a corner!) first, the title will probably be going south.

Your post is full of ****!

Their is Gardai and Dogs at 90% of our home games, UCD/Bray/Derry aside...

Your buses have no chance of getting attacked..None have in Oriel in years bar Bohs

Oh the aggression. ye truly are rattled. I can tell you for a fact that the gardai have been in contact with CCFC and that is the info that was given to them.

If my post is full of shít, its because the gardai are.

Dundalk are hopelessly disorganised for this. Bush league antics in truth.

I didn't say they don't care, I said there is no proviso, or contingency plan in place. Big difference

    This is just scaremongering.

Dundalk have big games regularly, and games that involve supporters with a much worse reputation than Cork City.

It is commonplace that the Gardai bring horses and dogs to Oriel Park for games. I'm not sure why. Perhaps the handlers like overtime.

There is no prospect of the Cork bus being attacked. There is no bad blood between Dundalk and Cork.

Security people in Oriel Park have been planning for this game for weeks.

As for away fans who have bought tickets for the home end, I told you days ago that barriers are being errected so that tickets will be checked before anyone gets near Oriel Park. If you have the wrong ticket you won't get in. If you manage to sneak in, be careful, otherwise you will be ejected.

I hope you are right re scaremongering. last thing any of us need is a load of dickheads causing trouble and ruining the occasion.

Re the people with wrong accents being turned away - not sure how viable that is, but if that happens anyone who is turned away can sue Dundalk FC and or Ticketgroup for breach of contract.

Jesus! What is it with your obsession for talking about ticketgroup/Dundalk's security/perceived shoddy organisation. This game will in all likelihood pass off without any incident. Why not enjoy the occasion and try talking about the match maybe?

The funny thing is that I work with a man who is originally from Cork but has been in Dundalk and supported the town for over 30 years. He hasn't lost any of his Cork accent. He is nervous about being stopped.

I mentioned this to a couple of Cork fans on another forum. If you have tickets for the home end, just be sensible. Don't act as if you are in the away end.

If the result goes your away, Dundalk fans will more than likely just shake your hand and say well done.

Dundalk Fc reserves the right to refuse anyone entrance! It even says that on your ticket

Without getting into pedantics - being refused entry because you have the wrong accent will leave ye wide open.

Anyway, thats neither your problem nor mine.

Being refused entry because your an away fan with a home ticket is different to an accent!

Back to the game...Id imagine we will line up
    Cherrie
    Gannon Boyle Gartland Massey
    Mennan Shields Towell/ODonnell Horgan
    Byrne/Towell
    Hoban

Great to see so much hype surrounding a LoI game, I'd say it will be some atmosphere up in Oriel park on Friday night. Couldn't begrudge either club a league title but would like to see Dundalk win it in front of their home fans, saw them win the First Division in Newbridge in 2008 and it stands out as one of the greatest sporting moments I've ever witnessed. Best of luck to both teams and hopefully both can build on this year and get some decent results in Europe next season. Do any Cork/Dundalk fans reckon many of their players will move across the water over the winter?

Anybody that bought these tickets took their chances KNOWING they were home tickets if they don't get in then their gamble didn't pay off.

Gas about turning away people because of the accents. A group of Cork lads would have no bother getting into Old Trafford with their Irish accents but would have hassle getting into Oriel with Irish accents. Just say yeah I follow the Lilywhites bai. And if they say no then use the logic that 95% of the country are allowed to support teams not from their town!

Logic won't get you far with a security issue. Logic goes out the window when people are able to claim it relates to security.

I wouldn't be completely in agreement that he should be there to be honest. He's a good season but I've been disappointed in him in the big games at the Cross, Dundalk especially he was very poor. I think Gearoid has been our stand out midfielder this year and when he's been missing it's been hugely noticeable. Missed 3 games about 6 weeks ago and we lost all of them. The Pats goal certainly helped Healy's cause. Still a quality player though of course.

No way he'll skip this one. Only reason he skips them is because it takes his knees longer to recover when playing on astro turf. He'll have 5 months to recover after Friday night.

From what I've seen of both Dundalk and Cork, Dundalk are vastly superior and I'm surprised it has gone to the last day of the season. With that, I would expect Dundalk to get the win on the last day to win it, but obviously anything can happen on the day and an early goal for Cork would change the dynamic completely.
