I currently have 60gb on music on my macbook and I want to move it to an external harddrive as it's taking up too much room. I am wondering is there anyway in doing this without getting the notification when playing the song on itunes that the song cannot be found?

If I move my music from my mac to a new external harddrive I'm sure this is the message that I will get right?

Back up your iTunes account by copying it to an external HDD.

Thanks for the links. I only have 30 gb of music in my itunes, and the other 30gb are the same music in folders on my mac. If I were to delete the music in my folders would the music in the itunes give me that notification, the songs cannot be found?

Not if you were to move your media folder(s) and ensure you set iTunes to point to that library. Read any warnings in the guides though just to be sure!

You can have more than one iTunes library.
