Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That's a fair bit off. From his Int in the Seahawks game, up to his first Int in the Saints game, he threw 143 passes not 212.

I should have said pass attempts.

Chris Collinsworth? Yeah he's really good. Says the odd remarkably stupid thing here or there for whatever reason, but by and large probably the best around at what he does.

Well, the refs did way, way more than their bit to contribute and I can't recall a single bounce that went our way either, but truth is our real defence showed up again once challenged by a good offence, and Dick Lebeau still needs to go. He is good at beating bad offences, but utterly useless at doing anything against good ones. We went on a bit of a tear for the last few weeks, but all along most Packers fans had been in agreement that the quality of opposition played a big role and we were waiting on a real test. And we wiltered on defence, as usual, giving up our trademark 500+ yards, as usual, when faced with one. Seriously, what kind of team gives up over 170 yards on over 7 per carry to Mark fcuking Ingram?

    Do you mean Dom capers?

the fact we were easily beat in "double coverage" for 50+ yard td says it all really

Yes, Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth are the best, really adds to the game.

In general, apart from them, I think most NFL commentary is quite poor. I wasn't following the game until after John Madden retired, but was watching an old Super Bowl with him recently, and thought he was brilliant.

It also kind of highlighted how poor in comparison most present-day commentary teams are. Who's next after Michaels-Collinsworth? Tirico-Gruden? (I know it's a distant second)

I crashed shortly after Rodgers looked to be after doing something to his hamstring, I assume that was a big factor in the result?

As a pairing they are well ahead of anything else, on a personal note I really like Gruden, love hearing his analysis of plays and mindset

Not too big in the end actually, he was able to scramble 10-15 yards for a TD. what really did it was a) the refs overturning a first down call that was the very definition of disputable (if anything, the evidence pointed to it being a first down) and spotting it unrealistically short... b) the refs giving us penalty after tricky tacky penalty including a 50+ yard defensive pass interference call on House just for getting ahead of his man that the US command Ch4 crew each labelled "ridiculous"... and c) our sh*t defence reverting to being our sh*t defence. No spine, no character, no leadership, no aggression, no tackling and no play calling ability.

We've been asking that for the last three years. It's at the point now where if they insist on keeping him after this season, I honestly think it's time for McCarthy and even Ted Thompson to go, too. I would be willing to see the back of a very good HE and an excellent GM just because of the defensive coordinator, which shouldn't actually make any sense. But at this point it does, he is wasting the career of a QB who has been playing on a level arguably never seen before over the last several seasons, given the issues in the run game and on the offensive line he has had to deal with.

Have to say I've been very impressed by the new pairing of Chris Myers and Ronde Barber. Barber for me has already taken the mantle of best co-commentator. Myers is pretty good but not my favourite.

Collinsworth number one and Barber number two for me. Does anyone else really really dislike the Nantz and Simms duo? It's bad enough having to listen to them on a Sunday but it kills me that they're the only duo that's on twice a week. Simms especially is such a captain hindsight. I remember a couple of weeks ago he waited for a team to fail to recover an onside kick at the end of a game before announcing he would have kicked it deep.

Collingsworth is excellent on his own, but he gets and lot of prompts in his ear too. NBCs production team put hell of an amount of resources and preparation into their Sunday night game. To be honest i used enjoy madden aswell for his level of detail but he was obsessed with linemen.

Wow, MNF has kicked off already. Just as well, feeling very tired. Can't take another 4am finish after Thursday night.

Murray piling up the yards early, nothing new here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,052 ✭✭✭poldebruin

I don't hold out much hope, but maybe this one can stay competitive for a few quarters.

Romo sacked twice already and on 3rd downs too

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,052 ✭✭✭poldebruin

oh yeah, is this the first time Jon has been commentating on brother Jay's Washington? Could be interesting if Washington play poorly.

Nice sack there - Romo does not look as mobile to me this year.

That sack on Romo is exactly why is he not a great QB, he just doesn't read the situation well enough. No safety back there, he has to call an audible at the line there, they could have been in for a td on that play instead of the sack. If it was Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees and a couple of others they would have made you pay for having no safety back.

Ah yes, I missed that one. 2 Monday games in 3 weeks for Washington? ESPN must be weeping.

    Fumble!

    McCoy pleases me less.

    some catch though

Mcoy isnt filling me with confidence here, they really should have put something on the board after recovering that fumble

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,052 ✭✭✭poldebruin

No. 12 needs to turn DB for Washington there. Int Play looked like something from the CFL ....did you see the WR run about 20 yards behind the LOS in a huge arc?

If McCoy is going to throw interceptions like that, you may as well play Cousins, at least he's had reps recently and can throw a good football down field.

I think cousins would be the lesser evil tbh, we really are a bit hamstrung without rg3

Washington aren't very good and have Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy as their QB options. Not exactly box office at the moment.

What's the point in all the yards with so many fumbles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,212 ✭✭✭shamrock55

What a cock up by murray there:eek::D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

You accept Romo will turn it over stupidly, you look forward to that, most of the time. There is no excuse for that one from Murray, it was a huge gain, inside the 15 and all he had to do was secure the football, go out of bounds, hit the ground, he is a tank but with 4 or 5 players converging on you that is one ****ing dumb thing to do.

Everytime money goes from my account on to the Cowboys bad things happen :)

Another fcuk up by skins there that 15yrd pen with poulsen cming into the huddle ffs what kind of management is that:mad:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,052 ✭✭✭poldebruin

Washington have not made the most of their turnovers. Great long pass play ruined by a mental mistake (Penalty) followed by a sack.

I know it's early, but can they go back to Cousins after hooking him last week? They were talking as if he were done in Washington, and Colt would be the backup when RG3 returned.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,052 ✭✭✭poldebruin

Huge play there. Redskins had Romo bang to rights, #25 completely whiffed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

    What a play by Bryant

Amazing catch and effort from Bryant there!!

Bad series for Clark there. Missed Romo on the blitz and couldn't hold Bryant out of the endzone.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

    Ouch

Edit: He gets away with it, just.

Pointless challenge, called down by contact, the ball was moving but it was not out, he still had control. I dont see how they can over turn it.

Couldn't over turn it, was pinned to his shoulder pad when he touched down.
