Does anyone know if McCann interviews are one round or two? Can't seem to find any info about it on their website.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 106 ✭✭notabasicb

They only have one round of interviews.

In and around 36k (top 5) for the duration of the apprenticeship, give or take a few k depending on the firm.

How much fully qualified could I expect ?

    50-55ish. Again, that's top 5 figures.

And how much does a partner get?

Negotiable I'd imagine. Would also depend on whether they are equity partners or salaried partners.

I do like your optimism. :pac:

    Say salaried partner.

As I said, it would be negotiable at that stage. Easily into 6 figures though.

What a decent starting salary these days one can expect ?

    Maples are about €40k
    McCanns are about €40k too
    Matheson are €37.5k
Arthur Cox are €35k plus €5k for education (masters)

That's as much as I know!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 106 ✭✭notabasicb

I've heard A&L are around the 40K mark too (could be wrong though so please correct me).

Always thought it strange AC are kind of considered the top firm in town (really do not intend this to turn into 'which firm is the best' argument) and always rank lower in starting pay.

I know some people might have asked already, but does anyone have any advice for WF?

Also best of luck to any who has AC or Matheson later this week :)

No dress code on McCann's presentation invite. I presume business formal?

Anyone with experience of McCann interviews willing to provide some insight re what to expect?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 623 ✭✭✭smeal

    Anybody heard from Walkers? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 660 ✭✭✭dashdoll

    Had WF today.

Not sure how it really went to be honest. Found it to be quite rushed as it was only about 20 mins. Was told at the outset it would only be about 20mins.

The partners that interviewed me had a list of commercial awareness qs from 1 to 12, asked me to pick a number and asked me that question...probably different with other interviewers.

Found myself kind of babbling a bit at times! :-/

    Anyone done AC second round?

    Anyone done AC second round?

Not personally. From friends who have been successful in it I have heard it is very informal and friendly.

How was it other than the commercial lucky dip?! That sounds awful.

Thanks for that. Did you have a similar experience regarding the commercial questions?

Anyone do AC second round? Was it ok?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26 StartTheShow

Thought WF was ok, but definitely hard to call as most people seemed to find it informal. At least we should find out soon enough.

Has anyone heard from Byrne Wallace yet with a PFO?

Does anyone have any experience with A&L?

Interviewed with A&L last year, both partners were very friendly, overall it was a great experience. I would say brush up on commercial awareness/current affairs. I got maybe 3 or 4 pretty specific questions, and if I am honest I didn't know where to start with 1 in particular. If you find yourself in that situation.......do not try to blag. They will appreciate your honesty.
    Best of luck

Thank you so much :) I'll keep reading the papers and the news so! When you say specific, can you give an example? Outside of that did it tend to be just competency based?

Do the A & L interviews have a problem question you have to answer on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 ThatllDoPig

Still haven't heard from Byrne Wallace (I am presuming that they have already contacted anyone who was successful in their application) and also waiting on Philip Lee. Which is disappointing as that was the firm I was really hoping for...

Someone said they called people yesterday. I'm waiting to hear back too. Don't know if I should drop them an email or take lack of communication as a PFO..

Yeah I have seen that alright. Somebody said that on the call yesterday David said that the details of the interviews would be sent out in emails and they haven't gotten the email yet so they could still be calling people.

I think I am going to wait until tomorrow and then call to ask have all the offers for interviews been made? I'll be so disappointed if I don't get an interview even - really want Philip Lee!

Yea I really wan them as well but I think I may have shot myself in the foot with them - I was called to an interview by D for an internship of 3 months and when I didn't hear back for a few weeks thought it was all off. Got an old voicemail then a few weeks later asking me to call back re interview and never did....hope they didn't think I PFO'd them!

Ahhh damnit okay. Hopefully they didn't take that badly! If they offered you an internship, hopefully that means they saw something in you that they liked!!

New user here so apologies for any messing; just wondering whether your PFO from MHC came via post or email?

    Best,

    By email!

Thank you! I havent gotten an email; what do you reckon that means? Highly confused. I wonder whether its worth getting in touch with their HR? Or do you think emails are coming in tranches?

This is genuinely the worst week of my life. So much uncertainty!

MHC interview offers were made last week for first round interviews this Friday and Saturday. Their drinks reception was last night.

No harm getting in touch with them to check, but I think you'd have been called by now.

Yeah mostly competency based, I don't want to stress you out or advise any particular area it really just depends on the day. But for example, in my own experience, issues such as the budget/corporate tax and mortgage debt relief. It is impossible to guess, be honest, be yourself and demonstrate your skill set, good luck
