I went to inbox.Google.com, clicked open in chrome and the app is installing now.
Not sure if it will work but worth a shot.

Edit: Still need an invite to get it going.

on the bottom of that page you can Email inbox@google.com to request one.

Is there a way we could put a list in the op of the people asking for invites in order they were asked?
Perhaps each person who gets an invite could then pass an invite to the next person on the list and so on.

Mine finally came from Google so it shouldn't be long before the rest of you start getting it.
If I get any invites I'll pass them on to any original posters who didn't receive one.

This worked for my own accounts, but it didn't work for a "2nd degree" account (OH via a shared account).
