I recently got a new job in Waterford City centre and I am looking for the best (cheapest) place to park my car. Its already costing me a bit to commute so I am wondering where is the cheapest place to park? I am working in John Roberts Square. I dont mind a few minutes walk if it means saving a few bob. Free parking would be ideal :pac:

I think it'd be an asshole thing to do, considering people who actually go to college there have a hard enough time finding space to park there

Just as a matter of interest, where are you travelling from? Would bus or bicycle be an option?

Im travelling from Kilsheelan so petrol costs are high enough. Bus is more expensive then driving

Fair enough, and I can see why you mightn't consider cycling! :D

Kinda sums up what's wrong with transport policy in this country, yet the motorist gets the blame for congestion and pollution

Yeah it would make sense if the bus was a good bit cheaper. There is absolutely no benefit at all getting the bus if you have a car. The times arent even convenient

No, it is for students and staff. It is also regularly policed by security and clamping is in operation.

Millers marsh is pretty inexpensive for a day.

Best bet to where ever you pick by a monthly ticket and it will be even cheaper and extremely worth while in the long term

Isn't there a car park off Thomas St or Thomas Hill that does a daily rate?

You could try wandering up there (opposite Downes's more or less) and enquiring.

Chap I know used to work in the bank parked his car up by Norris's in the Barrack Street area for free every day, a quick walk to town from there if you are familiar with the area?

Where abouts is the parking space? In front of the squash club?

Second this, think is 3.60/3.80 for the day. I find sometimes that Railway Square can be very packed, if you are not there early. Apparently students use it a lot. Always free spaces at Millers Marsh, and not too far to walk to John Roberts Square.

Not sure tbh, think it was up by the church opposite the pub

there are lots of cheap parking options in Waterford -
Bolton st would add to the list above - 3.60 per day
think Aldi in the Glen do good weekly rates as well

    Personally -
i would love to see all car parking moved off the quay
and grass part of it -
    a few coffee kiosks and
    maybe a glass restaurant

    Tesco car park you mean

I won't risk parking there all the time as they will clamp you if they see you parking there for hours everyday as its a privately owned carpark for people who shop in tesco

I know some people used to park up in Leamy St, Griffith Place and stroll into town.

It is just outside the pay and display parking area.
