In normal circumstances what you are ASSUMING would be true, but the op has told us CATEGORICALLY that this is not the case here.

" Under most standard leases " ......... this is quite obviously not a standard lease, nobody said it was, you are ASSUMING it is, the op said you are wrong , everyone else has tried to explain where you are wrong . Get over it.

I'm saying CATEGORICALLY he's mis informed. Your ASSUMING that I'm assuming. I've tried to explain how you are wrong and the op is liable for the charge . Get over it.

Sure why let the truth get in the way of some one with incorrect information.
This actually applies to what you're saying.
Facts are the op is trying to break the contract. There is a break fee unless someone takes on the remaining part of the contract. The agent does not want to do this. The op is liable for the charge.
    - There is no point in changing to another supplier before the end of a tenancy; it is utterly pointless and inconvenient - it means switching supplier, being with the new supplier for a few days/weeks and then closing that account; there is absolutely no purpose to it
    - Closing your account before the contract ends, due to moving out, is not a breach of contract, there is no exit fee for it
    - Switching to another supplier (as opposed to just closing the account) is a breach of contract which will incur an exit fee
    - The contract is not "passed on" to the new tenant or letting agency - it's finished once the account is closed, and anyway, companies can't force people to abide by a contract they never entered into; where are you getting the idea that this happens?
    - The closure of the account will end the contract, there will be no fee for anyone - not the tenant moving out, not the letting agency, not the new tenant. All the new tenant has to do is open an account with the supplier the letting agency wants them to be supplied by.

Why on earth are you making stuff up and claiming these are "facts"?

Guys- its not that difficult to remain civil towards one another. If you can't- you will have a holiday from the forum until you have learnt your lesson.......
