Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Team news

Misfiring striker Mario Balotelli is likely to keep his place for the visit of Hull as Rodgers has limited options up front.

The 24-year-old has scored just once in 10 appearances but with Daniel Sturridge still sidelined by a calf problem, the Italy international will probably start ahead of Rickie Lambert.

Midfielder Adam Lallana is pushing for a starting place after impressing as a substitute in the midweek defeat to Real Madrid.

Defensive duo Mamadou Sakho and Jon Flanagan remain sidelined with thigh and knee injuries respectively.

Hull City will be without Michael Dawson and Nikica Jelavic for the trip to Merseyside, with both players facing six weeks out of action.

Jelavic injured his knee during the warm-up ahead of Saturday's 2-2 draw against Arsenal, while Dawson was forced off late on at the Emirates with an ankle ligament problem.

Sone Aluko and Tom Ince could be given the chance to impress in the absence of four-goal joint top-scorer Jelavic, while Steve Bruce could turn to either son Alex or Paul McShane as defensive cover for Dawson.

Third-choice goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic could start against Liverpool with Allan McGregor and Steve Harper struggling with injuries.

Harper had been deputising for McGregor in recent weeks, but he forced off against Arsenal last time out with a torn right bicep with Jakupovic impressing after coming off the bench.

Arsenal softened them up for you so it should be an easy win.

Bruce teams have a good record against Liverpool, no reason to see beyond a scrappy draw.

Any sort of win here will do and is needed. If Liverpool can get 3 pts they will be in a decent position and may see some belief come back.

Borini will really have to take his chance tomorrow if he gets his rumoured start, running about and good movement shall not suffice.

    It's more than Balotelli offers.

And Borini is less likely to shoot from 35 yards or miss an open goal so you are already improving on "super" Mario..

Any sort of win will do, I don't care about the performance. This could be one of those 3pm after midweek European action kickoffs where the game, atmosphere etc is dead and we drop points.

So just win the game and we'll deal with the performance later.

Rogers has a tough decision to make regarding Balotelli. Either drop him for the sake of the overall team or play him in the hopes he'll score a good few and ignite his season.

Perfect opportunity to get their season going. 3-1 to Liverpool.

No Hendo today. That's the first time in a long while. And he was taken off midweek. Tiredness?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Gerrard, Can and Allen, looks rather defensive.

    5-0 Liverpool. Lovren x2, Balotelli x2, Allen x1.

How weird is it that I figure Lovren getting two is more likely? :P

Joking aside, you don't turn into an awful footballer over night. He's always been overhyped in my book, but he can score goals. He needs to bundle one in to get the monkey off his back.

  • This televised??

1-0 to Liverpool via an own goal. Can't see Liverpool managing a goal as we are ****e at the moment.

Goals from lallana Mario and a penalty from Gerrard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭kevohmsford

No sign of Borini at all. At least Johnson is back on the bench. No point in trying to guess a score. It will be a roller coaster with our defense.

Team to play Liverpool: Jakupovic, Bruce, Davies, Chester, Elmohamady, Huddlestone, Diame, Livermore, Brady, Ben Arfa, Hernandez.
Subs: Watson, Rosenior, Meyler, McShane, Aluko, Ramirez, Quinn.

No Henderson and no Couthino!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see Gerrard, Allen and Can being easily marked by two opposition midfielders. Not looking forward to this.

Is Bornini shagging Rodger's daughter or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭kevohmsford

Rodgers still has to start Balotelli up top because he has little else. Lambert legs are gone and Borini is dating Rodgers daughter so I'm told :pac:
