Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

moving a gas boiler?

    Looking to buy a house and the boiler is in the bedroom. It was used as a rental for years with the last tenants gone since jan/feb. The boiler doesn't seem to have been serviced for 5 years!! I don't know how the tenants didn't realise this.
    Today we had an engineer round and he turned it on but no rads heated. We arent used to gas heating so have no clue about it, so as of right now we don't know if its because the gas was cut off or if there's a problem with it. We really don't want to go on blind not knowing if iys abig issue with small kids.
    Its a detached bungalow and tbh we would prefer to get a new boiler and put it in the kitchen and have heard it can be quite expensive to do (moving from bedroom to kitchen) Any advise please?

    Call an RGII regestered plumber to have a look and quote, free of charge normally.(the quote)

    Might be an easier job to move it to the attic (ok if done correctly)

    Can you actually put them in attic? That would be very handy.
    We will get soneone to look it over and quotes etc whwn we get the keys but want clarification that it actually does work and is safe before we actually sign.

    Yes it can be done, but make sure it's done correctly as if not can cause problems down the line, talk to JohnnieK here, he's an installer, and has his own on the attic, will give you lots of good direction.

    So in the engineers report he suggested we get a whole new heating system or at least get new boiler and moved to kitchen and the 7 rads looked over. All the rads are there since the houses were built in 1990. And the boiler itself is 14 years old. Ballpark how much would it be to get the whole lot put in new? Really havent the budget for this but if its gotta be done... Thanks

    It depends on the radiator sizes, where the boiler is going, the work involved etc. a very rough starting point would be 5k. What area are you based and we could reccomend someone maybe
