You're the only one there claiming that. No one knows.

He was in Galway over the summer and had no problems posing for pictures instead of "being a cnut".

Just stop, you'll have as much luck getting a reaction as you did of making a go of it in the u.k.

What were you doing gawking at him so much as to observe so much about him over his lunch? I wouldn't be too happy either if someone was watching every move I made while I was eating.

Its hypocritical because bono campaigns for the irish government to give more of its tax money to the 3rd world yet bono trys avoid paying any tax to the irish government.

Bono seems to believe that tax is only for the little people.

A contender for idiotic post of the day surely?

U2 moved part of their company to the Netherlands. Bono and the band still pay taxes here. Im sure they contribute a lot more to this country than any of us. Where is you're proof that Bono tries to avoid paying any tax to the irish government? Or proof that he thinks tax is only for little people?

This is such nonsense. U2 moved a part of their business to Holland. Bono himself is still tax resident here so pays taxes on all his income which id imagine a serious amount of money every year. Id say he pays more tax to the irish government in a year than you will pay in your entire life.

Preaching to the crowds at gigs is a bit annoying alright, but he doesn't do it half as much as he used to, there is a lot of exaggerating going on in this thread. He has never campaigned for the irish government to give more money to the 3rd world, he has campaigned for all governments to try and do more for the 3rd world. He is attempting to use his fame and influence to try and help, I don't understand why he gets so much abuse for it?

Bono isn't the record holder. He is the record...

For years U2 were my favourite band, then after Pop I swear to god it's like someone (or everyone...) in that band received a major brain injury.

Pop is still miles better than their new album.

It says a lot about an album that they have to give it away for free.

They made more money from In Rainbows before it was physically released than they did from their previous album, apparently.

    Great album too.

Yeah, an average of £2 per album, which is what a record company would give them. The majority paid nothing though.

They didn't give it away for free. Apple paid them $100,000,000 for it and then Apple give it away for free.

2 euro per album for a non physical album is pretty good imo.

Their reasoning for it was quite sound (pun not intended), after the lacklustre sales of the last album they were afraid nobody would hear this one which would have been a big disappointment for them after four years of work.

I think it says a lot that it's still performing quite well on the charts for an album that's freely available.

It's pretty decent album with a couple of great songs, not their best work but still very good.
