Excise duty on petrol and diesel should be abolished. High price hits businesses and commuters and slowing down economy as a result. While I do appreciate reduction of CO2 emission but at current stagnant economy energy prices must be kept at minimum.

Burn logs from the money trees that they're planting.

OK. If people continue to repeat: how we're gonna to replace that ?
Country will stay in that big hole where it's now. Americans borrow billions and live happily. If steps are not taken to kick start economy nothing will be changed: unemployment high, services bad, housing out of reach and so on.
Ireland is still far away from proper budget and tightening finances further won't help.
Starting vibrant economy is only way forward.

Lovely sentiments but no coherent vision nor one shred of a plan.

Borrowing money isn't free. It's all very well to talk about slashing government income and paying for the shortfall by borrowing it, but pretty soon the cost of borrowing becomes a major contributor to the budget deficit itself, and you're into a debt spiral. In case you hadn't noticed, America is in precisely that situation at the moment.
