rojo won the ball in a 50/50.. Aguero dived in your "debateable" pen. City shouldve had a pen in 1st half for fell clipping Agueros heel.

on the other side of the coin the ref seemed allergic to booking city players. Zabaleta getting away with a challenge identical to smallings sending off

    Why are discussing Chelsea here?

Anyway, we got 1 point more than I thought we would from these two fixtures. Why do we always **** the bed against City?

He didn't have the lowest points total since 1986 after 10 games though did he? Or spend anything like what Van Gaal has. Moyes was poor but LVG has been no better.

Every time a result goes against United the Moyes VG comparisons come back. Personally I find it a bit pointless. Both are doing completely different jobs. VG has brought in a lot of new players and trying to change the way the team is playing while Moyes kept a very similar approach that Ferguson had already had in place and didn't make too many changes to the squad.

Obviously VG results haven't been great but at least there are signs he is making changes, I liked Moyes but the fact it didn't seem like much change was occurring is why many fans lost faith.

Anyhow it's going off topic a good bit so back to the match..

Think City should have had a penalty alright and that would have changed the game, Smalling making a stupid decision for the first yellow cost the team a good bit. United though did show some promising signs but their set pieces were shocking.

If United were going to have any chance of winning they needed to take full advantage of every set piece, something they didn't do.

LVG takes the record that Moyes couldn't achieve, worst points total after 10 games, record that was previously held by fergie for 1986 season.

Was it not Ron Atkinson's record that was the reason Ferguson was hired in the first place?

It's a mentality issue also - LVG took over a team completely devoid of confidence and we have looked mentally and tactically better as the season has gone on. It's very earn that teams do a u turn after the horror show that was last season. For me Moyes'tactics were cowardly, playing not to lose against any decent teams and falling into a shell whenever we got a lead regardless of the opposition, which is utterly inexcusable... he didn't know how to manage a big team, whereas LVG clearly does.

Not saying LVG has been perfect by any stretch, but Moyes was an absolute disaster. And while the money don't does bare mentioning, Moyes had Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra in defence where LVG has a teenager, a guy new to the country who doesn't speak English yet and McNair.

Well at least utd are level on points with newcastle. Great start to the season

doesn't really matter where it was from. He didn't clean through toure. He went between his legs.

Very disappointed with the loss, Smalling's foolishness is mostly to blame, it was always likely to come back to bite us.

But from a United perspective, Fellaini was magnificent, bossed things like we were used to seeing and proved those wrong who doubted his abilities, our best player along with Blind today.

Also, well done to Carrick, who did a brilliant job coming into CB, played well on the ball too. McNair and Wilson showed promising flashes as well.

Give over. It was a penalty all day long. If the ref was competent, we'd have possibly been 2 up (score 1, miss 1 of those two penalties) and also be playing against 9 men.

Did he get the ball before the contact? That's the head scratcher, I don't know the ruling in that position but I'd imagine it's legit if the ball is won before contact?

Time to sack LVG so, get Koeman in or whatever flavour of the month.

If our players could stop getting sent off or giving away stupid peno's, that'd be great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

    Well done City.

Even with their slump in form they always had the quality to pick up a result here handily enough. Bad finishing from Navas in the first half, and the ref's refusal to award City either of their legitimate penalty claims made it seem closer than it was.

Uniteds results havent been great but then that can be said for nearly all teams. The league is far more bunched this year. They may be a bit behind last year points wise but they're only 4 points off 4th. Performances just seem that bit more promising too.

Yeah that would need Chelsea to get probably 100 points are just under. Pretty unlikely, even the great team they previously had couldn't do that.

I am a lot lot more confident in the direction the team is going in this season over last. We are going to improve. Sure even today we were better in midfield than city up until the sending off. Couldn't have said that at any stage against city over the last 4/5 seasons

Unless something catastrophic happens Chelsea will be winning it with a good bit of breathing room. City, Arsenal and one of United /Soton/Liverpool for top 4 imo

This is a really awful opinion. All the players have showed good points. No way I'd be writing them off as not looking good enough.

And LVG is not under fire because things are better. The league table belies some good stuff from United, which we didn't see last year. I'm confident we'll get top 4 this year

Well city are supposed to be in a mini crisis but are only 6 points off. Chelsea had the league won last year and ****ed it up. Long way to go.

3 Pen claims? They had three in total. One was pen. One was an Aguero dive. One was debateavle but on replay shows rojo wins the ball through toures legs. Zabaleta slid in late on RvP and got away without a booking. 5Mins later Smalling does the same thing and is sent off.

Zab got away until near the end of the game without a booking when he could have had 2 or 3. Clichy likewise could easily have been booked 1 r 2 times for blatant fouls on januzaj. On the balance of things the ref was **** for both teams.

Bizarre game. But decent to watch.

City were average enough but the much better side except for the last 15 mins when they inexplicably tried their best to give something to Utd.

Ref was absolutely shocking & City should have had 3 penos & Utd should have had 9 men.

I think the Rojo pen isn't as nailed on as people are saying. Gets the ball through Toure's legs then takes him out. All tackles involve getting the ball then the man.

It's hard to take serious in fairness. Only one was actually a pen. Really? Even Paddy Crerand would find it difficult to argue that.

Which 3 and what other pen claims did they get? Just because the crowd shouts "Handball" when a ball hits a players midrift or is kicked at a player from point blank range, doesn't mean its a legit pen claim. Augero dived in the 2nd half. Should have won one in the 1st half and Rojo took the ball first, then Touré's inner thigh in a 50/50 challenge for the 2nd.

Probably the only silver lining for united this week was their main rivals dropping points to stoke.

Very.poor from smalling, also nearly 70 million for di Maria he has to beat the first man from set pieces. Thought carrick played very well though.
