Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I guarantee City will get any close decision in the second half after the two non penalty decisions.

Smalling was really, really, really, dumb.

Honestly fail to see how anyone at all could say that Rojo foul wasn't a penalty.

Love the way sky ignore the fact that rojo won the ball

    Which one?

He also got the ball, which should trump everything else when in the box imo.

    Well your opinion is wrong.
Getting the ball does not trump everything else.

He also got the ball, which should trump everything else when in the box imo. Is he supposed to just stand there and watch Toure score?

It is a peno by the book though.

It was completely wreckless. Which in itself is a penalty.

The refs shocker at Spurs the other week really has him afraid to give any penalty.
I think we'll see a few more red cards in this game.
Both sides have been more than lucky.

Should be a booking. No way in hell should any player react like that to the ref! Look at rugby as an example as respect for the referee!

The first one could have been a penalty if not for Aguero diving. When you go looking for it in such a manner you can't complain when they're not given.

He ran about 20 yards and put his head into the ref after smelling was booked - what exactly was the purpose of that?

Red would have been harsh admittedly, but had it have happened I wouldn't have been shocked.

He ran a fair few metres and for what? If memory serves me correct the free and yellow had already been given?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

I think we all knew the minute Smalling got that first stupid yellow card that he was going to see red. Awful on his behalf and might have cost the team big time.

De Gea again showing his class at least. Going to be a very tough second half. Would like to see Wilson come on and given a chance.

Been the most energetic player on the pitch by far and has got the ball nearly every City attack.
    And done nothing with it.

He's a one trick pony and Shaw has had little trouble with him. He was the least of our worries.

It was a nailed on penalty (and a red card as Rojo was the last man), as was the Fellaini kick. The ref has been shocking.

Even though yes he did get the ball (utd fan here) you can't clatter into someone especially from behind or arguably side on at best to get it, that's a stone-Waller for sure...

We've had a bit of luck today, not sure if we will have enough to see us through the 2nd half!

Exactly. Tackles from behind often get the ball but it's not the point. I think in this case he fouled him as well as getting the ball, and the foul trumps touching the ball.

Not too relevant now anyhow as nothing was given.

Yes and souneas then saying how Fellini reacted was wrong but nothing about how aguero went down like he was shot

It's actually a poor panel choice - Quinn ex man city and two ex pool players - no balance there at all

Do you really think that was wreckless? Could potentially injure more than any other tackle? I didn't see it that way.

Rojo may have got a touch on the ball but you can't just hack your way across another player to get to it.

I haven't saw it but to me you can go in hard if you win the ball but if you don't win the ball first and take the man to win the ball then it's a case of a foul and if it's in the box well it's a penalty .

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,193 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

Utd looked comfortable for the first 20 passing it around without causing City problems only had one half chance which Jan put wide,

That was a foolish red card by Smalling, the first yellow I'd like to see if Utd were caught for numbers at the back for him to try and slow down Hart's kick out

The second yellow well that was just pure stupid from Smalling, maybe the ball shouldn't have got through to Milner but Smalling should have just stayed on his feet, foolish tackle deserved red card.

First was definitely a penalty. Second got the ball first, man second, no penalty

he may have touched the ball, but he stopped toure getting to it after that , so for me, pen and a red.

utd fans would say same if it were kompany on rvp

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,384 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

    Paradox? :pac:

A foul and a dive. There was no need for him to try to con the referee when he was fouled in a way that didn't require an extravagant fall.

Rojo was lucky he got a touch on the ball as it was a silly tackle but he did and it makes the decision a justifiable one to not give it. Unless you are one of the Man City or Liverpool fans in the Sky studio/here.

One of them was ridiculously harsh. Caught a ball from a corner because he thought the whistle had gone. Got a second yellow

It doesn't matter as long as he gets the ball.. He takes the man afterwards it's not a penalty. To suggest otherwise is just incorrect.

Sky panel just like this thread, some City and lots of Liverpool

    United starting look panicky

Being down to ten men aside... Our lack of ball retention in this game is also what is going to nail our coffin firmly closed on this one... Shocking stuff

    This makes no sense.

It's either a foul or it isn't. It definately was a foul and therefore a pen.
