Rodgers needs to come under some pressure now. So many bad calls on his part, hasn't done anything this season to fix the problems in the side. Stinks of arrogance and complacency.

The mind boggles at Liverpool fans on here trying to tell us Gerrard has played well today. he hasn't made a tackle, hasnt controlled the tempo at all. But a few Hollywood balls come off and he's played well apparently.

It's a disgraceful performance. The media witch hunt against Balotelli is unfair but doesn't mean he's actually any use either.

Rodgers will have to come under the spotlight for his lack of ability to organise a defence, it's comical at this stage. So much indiscipline and giving away of needless free kicks.

Gerrard isn't the worst out there today but I still think he is done if we have any ambitions of kicking on another level

Liverpool have had 65% possession. Some control is being exerted from the midfield.

No bite in this Liverpool team.

If Newcastle were playing with 10 men and possibly even 9 as they should be this game would be very different the ref is an absolute joke.

Yet we've had the better chances and deserve the win.

That being said, Janmaat should have been off. That was definitely a red.

Side has no heart at all

If Mario had a decent #10 behind him you'd be laughing.

That's probably the line Rodgers will hide behind but his side have been awful and have played this way for most of the season.

Cue Rodgers throwing some players under the bus after this in order to save his own deficiencies from being questioned.

We have done a Spurs with our transfer dealings it's pretty clear

Lackadaisical display by Liverpool, something rotten happening. Pardew is Houdini...

I'm not saying you don't, but the midfield has established a platform for Liverpool to win from today. That's all and Gerrard is trying where others do not seem to be.

Did Suarez hide Rodgers deficiencies as a manager? I thought he was a genius last year but has been awful this year. Hiding behind the criticism of Balo who has not been as bad as made out by the media.

Nice one for the Newcastle fans on here. The lack of a sending off aside, can't really complain tbh. Well done.

Newcastle deserved that. Liverpool are in a mess.

They didn't really, some disgusting tackles and players not punished Liverpool deserved to win that game.

Mario worked his socks off today yet I'm sure there are plenty here who will be blind to that.

LIverpool's midfield were shocking. Gerrard sitting deep and trying his hollywood passes isn't giving the striking options anything to work with. I have no idea what Rodgers is attempting to do with his wingbacks either. Sterling and Balo wasted in that team.

Great win for Newcastle, can't say they were particularily good but Liverpool made it easy for them.

Liverpool were just slow and sluggish, poor at the basics and there was no hunger or drive on the pitch.

Pardew's substitutes were effective, Rodgers' not so, and that was the difference in the end.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,825 ✭✭✭Timmyctc

Yes. The team who played better and scored more deserved to lose in favour of the team who didn't have one good scoring chance all game. Top quality logic sir.

Sad to say a sub par Gerrard was our best player,a guy in his mid thirties ffs.
Definite concerns about Rodgers buys now but more than anything and the most worrying is the absolute lack of desire from all bar Gerrard, surely Rodgers should be responsible for not sending out his players with some fire in their bellies.
    Lethargic,passive, pathetic performance allround.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,577 ✭✭✭bennyl10

Massive what difference one year can, Liverpool just look clueless.. Rodgers really need,to change something big time..
This week coming, if he doesn't change anything, will be demolition central.

Savage though, even as a united fan, is just painful.. Ballotelli could just do absolutely nothing without a stupid comment..

Questions have to be asked now, it's bizarre how a manager can spend £120 million and turn a title runners up side into a mediocre mid-table side. Balotelli is a joke at this stage.

After last season's blip it seems Liverpool have found their level.

Fair play to Newcastle though, a good performance, I thought Cabella was very impressive today, if Pardew can beat the teams immediately above them, he can keep them up.

Neither team deserved to win it. They were both ****e.

He had a decent season at Southampton and before that he had a average season in France. Hes just not good enough in a team aiming to compete at the top. We overpaid for a average player. Great business for Southampton.

Getting Sturridge and Lallana into the team will make a huge difference. I am puzzled with Sterling he was devastating through the middle and now he is instructed to stay wide.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

That's football for ya, most fans calling for his head and the team goes on to beat Spurs, Pool and City. Top ten in the table now. Great result for them and happy for Pardew .

Newcastle should have had two reds but regardless it's a very limited magpies side and they should really have been put to the sword

Liverpool signings yet again looking likely to be flogs, what people sometimes fail to realise is he signed a lot of duds last season too but got away with it because of S/S/S - in recent times our transfer policy has been relatively immune from criticism because of the bargain buys that were Coutinho and Sturridge but since then we've signed about 15 and 10-12 of them have made little or no impact. Rodgers has to take responsibility for that.

An absolutely dreadful performance, we have failed to score in 4 of our last 5 and worryingly are not even creating changes against average sides like Hull and Newcastle.

Oh well Real Madrid and Chelsea next, looks like this season will be a repetition of the pattern of title bid followed by nosedive as per 2002 and 2008

2/1 was a shocking price. They were nearly 3/1 on the exchange.

Is it that simple though. You don't always get what you deserve.

Skrtel had a great chance with a header and should have scored. What chances did Newcastle create. The goal was a mistake. The game was so poor neither team deserved anything.

No point arguing semantics really. Newcastle earned a victory. They created more clear cut chances. Could've had 2 or 3 if they were clinical. Liverpool could still be out there now and for another hour and stuggle to create a clear cut chance, such is the day they are having.

The original post said Newcastle deserved the 3 points. Are people honestly saying Newcastle played well today.

What chances did they create. Neither keeper made a save in the first half.
