Thinking of you today, hope the marathon has gone well for you!!

Thank you for thinking of me!

It went pretty good all things considered! Finished in 6:51:15 which was twenty minutes slower than I wanted but had a few things go wrong (not the least was the weather!) but I'm still delighted. I struggled, but never stopped.

Was a bit emotional at the finish...poor volunteer didn't know what hit her when she gave me a hug and I started sobbing on her shoulder!

All in all, I'm absolutely delighted with the day. Brutal, tough, painful yes but exhilarating also!

Will post a proper race report tomorrow on the Novices thread and my blog.

Can I get a mod to close this training log please?

I'm not going anywhere, I just feel that the next phase of my running/training needs a fresh start. A clean slate as it were.

I'll start a new log sometime next week and will be clearer with my plans/motives/methods; now that I understand how these things work on boards.

Thanks everyone for your interest and support thus far.

Why close the log? Your development should be reflected in the progress made throughout your running career from start..... to wherever.

What most posters tend to do is to either rename the log or re-reg under a new username.

Well done on dcm and best of luck with your future endeavours.

Thanks, but this log kinda lost it's way and I'd rather a fresh start. This log stopped being about my running progress a long time ago.

If mods don't want me to start a new one to reflect this, that's fine, I understand.

    Thanks.

Simple thing is to start a new log. There's no rule to say you have to close one off to start another or you can only have one log. Stop replying to / bumping this one yourself and nobody else will post in it. It falls down into history. I wouldn't be reading this if you hadn't of posted about wanting it closed.

Start a new one and let it take a different direction to the way this one went. You can lead that direction by your own posts in the new log. Best of luck with it :)

If you want your log closed you should PM a mod rather than assuming they are reading :D. I'm pretty sure they will do that for you once they know of your request.
Good luck with the new log.

It all seems a bit dramatic though, if you'll pardon me saying so. What's wrong with showing your development and progress? One of the most fascinating aspects of Krusty's (sub-2.35 marathoner) training log was going right back to the start, and seeing exactly how far he has come in only a few short years. If he had started a new log, say, right after he broke 3 hours for the first time, perhaps others would have read it in a different way: "this guy's well out of my league. No point in me reading this account, it's not relevant to my situation".

As compared to: "Wow, look where this guy came from, started only a few years ago, and he smoked and drank too much* just like me. I don't know if I can run 2.35, but maybe I can break 3. If he could do it, I could do it".

    * I'm speaking from hazy memory here, apologies if I'm mistaken, Krusty.

    +1,

I'd keep with the same log, but request maybe the mods to change the title of the log to something else. Assuming you want to become "This athletic girl runs fast times" in the future then having everything in one log will be of a lot more value to those reading, and to yourself.

I'm happy I kept everything in the one log myself. Every now and again I look back at the first few posts to see how much of a joker I was back then (Going out on the lash the night before my first 400m race ever) and how much I have learnt and developed since.

Hmmm. Well, yeah, but maybe it lacks something. How about:

    QUICK BITCH SMOKES YO ASS!

just a thought. throwing it out there.
