Could anyone recommend an American immigration attorney who deals with the Irish?

This is a weirdly specific request, but I am in search of an immigration attorney who has experience dealing with the Irish. I have some questions that would benefit from a definitive answer.

    Thanks in advance! :)

That's actually not very specific at all; most immigration attorneys deal not with a specific country(because immigration is federal law), but a specific issue... such as work visas, or waivers for those who overstayed, or those that have criminal backgrounds.

That is a surprisingly useful answer, thank you! Can you recommend anywhere to start looking, based on requirement? I'm leery of Google because while any attorney can whore SEO, it doesn't necessarily reflect quality or actual ability.

Tough question. I think you'll probably have to start with The Googles, but then make sure to do some thorough checking on whatever firm you come up with. They're like doctors and dentists in that its hard to find negative reviews online.

I'm no expert but the busiest areas are probably New York, Los Angeles and Florida. A firm that shows up prominently in any of those places probably has a reputation that can be checked further. Does Yelp review lawyers? Possibly. Also most cities have a "better business bureau" which is a place citizens can complain about a business so they'd have info on potential scams.

I assume you're not in the USA? Are there no lawyers in Ireland who specialise in US Immigration law?

You could try asking us on this forum. You can go anonymous if its sensitive.

You can't actually go anonymous here.
Hard to suggest where to look, because of course every attorney will be telling you they are good at what they do. Though, if anyone says they have a 100% success rate, run, cause they are lying. Best thing to do is educate yourself on the issue, and then ask some questions of the attorney (most offer a free initial consultation), to see if what they say matches what you know.

Laurel Scott is considered to be the authority when it comes to waivers for overstays etc: http://www.scottimmigration.net/ Marc Ellis is excellent too, but tends to specialise in visas from high fraud countries: http://www.marcellislaw.com/ And John Roth specialises in fiance visas: http://fiancee-visa-attorney.com/ Note I have no personal experience with any of them, nor am I affiliated with any of them, but through 9 years on immigrations websites, these names have come up time and again as being worth the money.
