Hi. I`m not sure wheather I`m on the right forum here but here goes. I bought a Dell Inspiron 17, 5000 Series laptop last week. All along I was able, on my older Samsung Laptop, to view photos and any downloaded material that was on my laptop through the Xbox System Music Player or Picture Viewer, Wirelessly, but now I cannot. The Xbox recognizes the Laptop but tells me that the Movie, Music and Photo folders are empty. The laptop is running Windows 8.1 and it`s an Xbox 360, 2 years old. Is there any thing that I can do to rectify this. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you recently changed your network sharing settings on the laptop?

Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center>Change advanced sharing settings. Make sure that your computer content is discoverable in there under the options

According to the Network and Sharing Center the Xbox has access to the Folders but not the files but I`m wondering does the fact that on this new laptop I don`t have Windows Media Center. It`s a paid add-on.

Install something like Plex, MediaBrowser or Serviio, it'll allow you to share media content (Music/Videos/Pictures) on your network. All 3 options are free and use DLNA/UPnP which the XBOX360 supports.
