I said that one. But would you not agree that people who wre/are questioning Rodgers now have another stick to beat him with

If we had been embarrassed, maybe. But instead, last nights team performed better than the supposedly first team has for a while.

So, not really in this case.

For dropping/resting players that were playing poorly?

Add to that actually putting in a decent performance and looking they they give a fcuk?

It actually had the opposite effect on me tbh. Delighted the poor performers didn't get on. Poor attitude shouldn't be rewarded.

Platini: "Rodgers should explain his team selection to Liverpool fans"

i was critical of the team to start with, but seriously Michel, kindly fúck off.

Platini should explain to the European Football public why he lacked the balls to stand against Step Ladder for FIFA President.

I don't think there'd have been any major difference, it isn't as if we've any goal threat anyway!

It will be interesting to see what team he picks on Saturday. That will I suppose indicate what his thinking was behind his selection last night.

Until then we don't know if he dropped or rested players. Or indeed waved the white flag.

We should offer Barca 20m for him in January to take him off their hands.

Sickened with Hazard. He lost me a fortune tonight with the miss. Had a big Accum (5) that Chelsea messed up. Covered myself and made a small profit thanks to Shakhtar @ -2, thankfully.

    Sneaky £20m bid in January?

Ya ya toure is a disgraceful professional footballer
Comical stuff from him no effort started stretching while marking a guy at a corner allowing him a free header to score

What happened him this season? Some player for the previous 4/5 season before that though

Missed a bad 1 on 1, but we all know LS9 doesn't score the easy ones.

Think once he settles it will be business as usual.

I'm one of Yaya's biggest fans but tonight he was outdoing his brother in the comedy stakes. That 2nd yellow was just wtf. He won the ball and still lashes out at your man. Madness.

I don't know where that City performance came from, it wasn't the same team that brushed us aside. And that's not me giving them stick, I have an actual soft spot for them (much rather them being Champs over Utd, Chelsea and even Arsenal). It's just frustrating to see them outclass us only to be an utter shambles in games such as tonight.

I would go with the following team against Chelsea. We need to match them physically. sakho (should be fit)on costa would be some tangle

    Johnson Sakho Toure Moreno
    Can Lucas
    Sterling Henderson
    Gerard
    Borini

Can for Lallana after 60/65 minutes (move Gerard back beside lucas and get lallana borini and sterling up front)
Coutinho on for Lucas 65/70 minute (move hendo back beside Gerard)
Stick Ballotelli on for borini for the last 10

Really hope we never see this again. Even Henderson is pretty poor when playing deep.
Lucas, Can and Henderson in midfield could work nicely though.

Guardian - LFC have released three scouts as part of an overhaul of scouting network. Harper, Johnson and McGlynn have all parted company

Good, maybe now we'll look past Southampton :p

More in that article - http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/nov/05/liverpool-john-w-henry-dubai-naming-rights rick parry alert!

    This from the express
Liverpool, meanwhile, have overseen yet another revamp of their domestic scouting operation after releasing a trio of their English based scouts.

Michael McGlynn, the club’s long serving assistant chief scout, Mel Johnson, who covered south east England, and first team scout Alan Harper have all departed in recent weeks.

In a separate development, Paddy Riley has also been allowed to move to Aston Villa to take up a role as head of recruitment.

so he could have scouted Jordon Ibe and Raheem Sterling ;)

No one noticed Moreno wearing last season's shorts last night?

No, the little white lines just give the boys more alertness and confidence. Going to need it at the weekend.

Patini wouldn't be high up on my list of likable people, anyway.

He also selected a team from a group of twenty five players that UEFA accepted as Liverpool's Champions League squad for this season.

Well I hope they don't give the naming rights money to whoever was involved in buying players for the last number of seasons.

Maybe the naming rights will come with a DoF.

He should have worn the late 80s Liverpool shorts.

Probably get arrested for indecent exposure though

Interesting article from Luis new autobiography about a chelsea player saying that if he didn't waste time during the chelsea/Liverpool game last year, he would be dropped.

Was trying to think of who the Countess Markovich reminded me of ... yer man Eoghan from Season 2 of Boardwalk Empire.
I say season 2 as that's what I'm watching at the moment and I'm not sure if he'll make season 3.

At least Eoghan scored a few.

Gerrards pick of the best team from his time at the club.

    Reina

    Johnson--Hypia--Carragher--Riise

    -Gerrard----Mascherano---Alonso-

    ----Suarez---Torres---Fowler----

    Not a bad team.

Finnan instead of Johnson and I'd agree with him...

I'd keep Johnson as he was excellent for a few years but I'd have Hamman instead of Masch.

Johnson was good for longer that Finnan, so I agree there, but Masch was workd-class for much of the time we had him, I'd have him every time. A guy you could always rely on to cover your ass...

Johnson was much better than Finnan when he was arsed.

Paper doesn't refuse ink, for me total hog wash. Would love to know who on the Chelsea team Suarez is so pally pally with they would get that information from. Would have thought after the Ivan incident he would be the last Liverpool player any Chelsea player would have "chatted" with.
