Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Off that list i'd like to think we could use at least two in our starting line up. I suppose the thing that will hamper us is our 'strategy'

Off that list id like vlaar, khedira chealini, de jong and huntelaar

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Huntelaar is 31, André Ayew is 24.

abate could do a job but we should really focus on a DM and a stricker

    Modern WWE, what ya like.

WWF is the only way to go, you might get away with WCW if you reference NWO.

    That's how you reference wrestling.

No brainer, decent goal scorer too which is what we need.

Considering he would cost the same as Markovic you would think it would be a no brainer alright.

If that's the case we can kiss top 4 chances goodbye.

We need at least one quality striker as priority.

A few centre backs and a DM would be nice too.

Hopefully we repeat last years trick, buy nobody, galvanise the squad, smash up the league.

Perhaps...we'd need a huge run of luck then in order to have any chance of getting 4th. At the moment we are way off the pace and our strikers are either broken, not good enough or not being managed correctly.

    Striker ,agree
DM could not agree more ,and I would priortise this

CB ,we have bought so many in a row that have not worked it is the system/coaching that is the problem not personnel

Would also be a bit awkward when we meet Barca on our way to the CL final.

If it's a choice between him and Mata in January I'll take him.

Cant understand why you wouldn't take the best player in his position in the EPL over the last 3 seasons statistically......

That's why I'm not worried about our form in CL so far. The club is destined to meet Barcelona and to face Suarez. No matter what, sure you couldn't write these scripts.

Dunno why anyone takes the Shaqiri link seriously (if they do), Lallana and Markovic mean there is no chance or indeed sense in splashing money on him - Liverpool need a DM and CF and a manager to remember how to be tactically brave.

Really hope reports linking us to Gignac are not true. I know it would be a free transfer but he is no better than Rickie Lambert tbh.

    Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

I know it's only the mirror but please don't let it be even slighty true.

Liverpool offer Glen Johnson new contract worth just HALF his current salary.
Glen Johnson has been offered a new contract at Liverpool - but still looks certain to quit Anfield.

Right-back Johnson is currently on £120,000-a-week but, having lost his England place after suffering a loss of form and injuries, he is being asked to HALVE his money on a £60K per week, two-year deal.

The club given Johnson a new deal would make me lose faith in the management, what does be bring exactly that they would want him to stay on?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

    Christ no.

Coutinho on the bench for Brazil v Austria.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,042 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

I'd much rather have Flanagan or Wisdom (or both) in the squad to be honest. Barring a frankly incredible return to form, there's just no point in giving him a new contract. **** though, so annoying, since he was actually so good.

    Agreed.

And Johnson being offered a new contract is surely a joke. He'll get a nice contract somewhere else anyway as he's on a free

They know what kind of person GlenJo is. This is clearly a case of Brendan's higher ups forcing him out.

Not a chance will that greedy bystander take one penny of a paycut.
Johnson out, Danilo or Montoya in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,188 ✭✭✭mosstin

If Johnson was to be offered a new contract it would - justifiably - add to criticism of Rodgers' blind spots within the squad. No way should he be retained but if he is, well...

What he earns doesn't matter to me. He's been out of form for 2 years now. If he was operating at a world class level, pay him what's required. He's been appalling so get rid.

I was trying to be funny by making a "you had to be there" joke ie the Mata is world class debate.

That's essentialy what I was trying to say. I'd pay good money to send him on a one way flight/boat trip/swim to the Aran Islands, never to return.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,098 ✭✭✭MonkeyTennis

Id offer Johnson a pay-as-you-dont-stump-hit-it-to-the-opposition-under-no-pressure deal.

60k fine if he does it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,791 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

I agree with KLose, If glen was to a get a new deal, then serious questions would have to be asked of the guys in charge.

I cant see it happening tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I can't see it being FSG who would want Johnson to stay on. (Money and contract lenght would be down to FSG)

This would have to be the managers decision to keep the player on as he would see him as an important part of his team/squad.

£6m over 2 years, small money to he realistic, decent filler if needed, he'd be alright to have play on the left if required. Wouldn't use offering him that package as a stick to beat Rodgers with.
