Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think it's time to just move on from GlenJo to be honest. We have other wingers who are younger, we are better developing them than spending still sizable wages on a player who is only getting older.

Just finished watching Greece and Serbia. Markovic started and played about 65 minutes. He was very ineffective.

Glen Johnson deserves a new contract. Sure he has been class this season. Our stand out performer.

Wouldn't use offering him that package as a stick to beat Rodgers with.

Just to add, I imagine he'll do better elsewhere so I wouldn't be surprised to see him go, and now will the club or Rodgers, happy ending for all concerned potentially.

If he stays no prob either imo.

No Liverpool players in the starting 11 for England. Lallana, Sterling and Hendo on bench.

    Good.

That means Hodgson has a smaller chance of breaking them.

If the management thinks Johnson is good enough to start (which they obviously do as he starts when fit) why would they not think he is good enough to try and sign to a new contract? It logically follows and given that he starts when available shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, despite what most of you think.

Daniel Sturridge's return delayed by recurrence of thigh injury

Paul Joyce saying Sturridge injured again. Usually very reliable.

The usual reliables are reporting it now and the articles will be online soon. Scans results tomorrow apparently.

    Behind paywall.
Liverpool hopes of revitalising their season have suffered a major blow after Daniel Sturridge broke down in training once again, raising fears that Brendan Rodgers is facing another spell without the injury plagued forward who has not played for his club since August.

We'll have to spend in January if we're to have any chance of CL.

Fuk sake, this is ridiculous now. How can what should be a reasonably straightforward injury be so hard to manage in reality?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

We really should have gone for Falcao in the summer..

    Oh wait!

Unbelievable really that he's broken down twice now literally days before he was due to come back.

Oh **** Lallana is on for the 2nd half.

Rodgers HAS to go two up, no point in waiting for Sturridge.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Oh **** Lallana is on for the 2nd half.

It doesn't matter anyhow, Rodgers won't play him anyhow by recent evidence.

Off that list i'd like to think we could use at least two in our starting line up. I suppose the thing that will hamper us is our 'strategy'

    Lichtsteiner and Schär.

    Lol

That chap might not play again this season the way he's going.

    What a sicknote

The club needs to plan ahead without Sturridge.

Can't be having the season reliant on a guy who is constantly injured.

Keep him there bit get 2/3 proper strikers into the club

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

Think we should look at getting Jackson Martinez in Jan. Will cost near 30m but if we don't sign a striker we can rule out top 4.

Spent all that money and when one player gets injured we crash and burn.

    FFS.

FSG have put a rake of cash into Liverpool.

While he is out we should just go the whole hog and transplant Mario's legs onto Sturridge's body.

I wouldn't either to be honest after given the manager £120m in the summer to spend and it looks like its been wasted.

Who could honestly blame them since they have taken over Liverpool they have given managers £350m in transfer funds and it looks totally wasted.

The club won't buy anyone in January. I think Suarez and Carroll were the last two January transfers the club made.

It is going to be a long long season.

Do you have faith in Rodgers spending any money they do invest on the right players? To be fair to FSG, they've invested very heavily & backed Rodgers to the hilt. The recent transfer activity doesn't inspire any confidence.

As someone above said, we need to start planning so that we don't really need to rely on Sturridge. He is too much of a sick note.

Big window coming up for the club. Get it wrong & last year will count for nothing.

What does it cost for a thigh transplant these days? Sturridge's seem to be made of spaghetti.

Better buy some seriously rated prospect youngsters in January to fix this seasons problems in about two years time.

This may be a simplistic view but thats what happens when your main striker is injury prone and dont have quality backups. All that also on the back of losing one of the best strikers in world football.

Our transfer policy this summer is looking naive at best. Rodgers was happy with Sturridge/Balotelli/Lambert. Borini's no world beater but he didn't even want him.

So is that Sturridge and Balotelli out? Lambert starting is nightmare scenario stuff.

    You reap what you sow.

Not replacing Suarez properly could end up costing the manager his job.

He'll need to spend wisely in January.

Would prefer Lacazette, would be a lot cheaper, playing in a better league and has a similar style to Sturridge just more powerful.

Raheem Sterling puts two fingers up to Hodgson! :pac:
