    Agreed,to single out one particular episode as a favourite though would be difficult

    edd is very good. I think he has his own business were he makes a lot of unique vehicles for advertising and stuff. He has an engineering degree too very intelligent skilled guy infairness. The only thing about the show is the part where they work out profit is bit stupid they never consider labour costs and the amount of time that is but into the vehicles I still think its a very good show though.

    Yeah the labour costs are an issue, as proven by the handful of losses been made or in some cases breaking even,the Renault alpine is one that comes to mind

    The original concept for the show was that someone with a bit of know-how in the oily bits department could buy up a car cheap, repair it and sell it on for a profit. The profit would be the payment for labour.

    Yes since it got more popular it's lost its original charm. Ed used to do all the work and try to spend as little as possible. Now that they have a seemingly unlimited budget they don't do as much work to the cars as they used to.

    I'm not so sure about that. When they did up the Audi TT (which was in the last series), Edd stripped down its gearbox. The only thing he didn't do was replace the LCD display, which is a fairly specialist thing to do. They generally only splash the cash if there's a huge potential profit margin; for example when they did up the Capri (on series one) Edd sprayed part of the car himself, but it was never a car that was massively desirable in the first place. Contrast that with the Mk1 Mini on series one, which was fully repainted.

    I agree it has changed quite a bit since the original series was aired, but not neccesarily in a bad way.

    I didnt like what they did to the 2 Japanese imports when they had them, the R33 Skyline and the RX-7, talk about not having a clue. Other than that I like it, I feel Mick acts like 'the wheeler dealer' just for the camera and he knows what he is talking about but plays it down.

    I like the show. But Mick cheeky chappy routine, is embarrassing. He goes to fairly interesting places to get things done. But the dealing aspect its comical. Mainly watch it for Ed.

    in fairness you need him to break up the show. Although ed china on his own doing demonstrations of car maintenance tutorials would be great viewing.

    Fantastic show, Mike and Edd make a great team.

    A lot of the cars they resurrect are for a limited market so they do pretty good.

    They also make a tidy profit selling the show.

    I love it. You have to see through the bits with Mike that are obviously staged. The profit made at the end doesn't really matter. And the people buying obviously agreed on a price beforehand.
    IF they really wanted to make money they'd stick to one or 2 types of car, they'd have loads of spares from scrapped versions, Ed would know them inside out and Mike would know exactly what to look for when buying. But a quick look on wiki tells me they did 141 episodes, that's 141 different cars.

    I'd say the appeal of a shop buying cheap Avensis' , fixing them up and flogging them to local minicab drivers every week would get old fairly fast :)

    I think ed is great and like to look at it but I only record it now to fast forward all the bits with mike he just is gone so annoying.

    It's a decent show as car shows go but sometimes I wonder what the hell there at. Destroying that rx7 with the poxy graphics comes to mind.

    I'd also wonder just how much work is done off camera; balljoints always pop for edd first tap of a hammer, bolts are never seized/snap etc. and when he buys a car that "could" be a "lemon" it ALWAYS turns out to be a minor problem like that TT gearbox or the Cossie that only needed valve stems instead of rings.

    Mike is a pleb, my wife hates him when I watch the show... she likes Ed, doesn't everyone?

    At the rate Mike is expanding he will not fit into any of the cars soon enough.

    He bought that knowing it needed doing, same as a TVR with the same issue. They "made" a fortune on both cars iirc.

    I do like the show and il watch it if it's on just experience tells me things don't work out half as good with cars 80% of the time.

    It's TV: they're there to tell a story and entertain the masses. They'll show the tricky stuff when there's a useful point to be made but otherwise I'd imagine a lot of work gets done behind the scenes. Apart from anything else, they're condensing down a full vehicle restoration into 45 minutes of TV, stuff has to be left out.

    I've wondered if real world mechanics watch the show in disbelief as Edd cleans and paints yet another component that will never be seen again, just because it's good practice.

    There is a Facebook page about the show that I'm afraid shows that all is not what it appears on the programme.
    Anomalies and the fact that the cars don't really get sold etc.
    It's a pity as it spoiled the show after that for me.

    I like the show. I would say that they must have a few cars that were started and never made it to air. And i agree nobody could have tat much good luck with ball joints.!!

    I remember the BMW 850 was sold to an Irish guy. I think i may have seen it the other day.

    Always worth a watch and you might learn something. I found the spark test with the Jag XJ Coupe interesting. It shows people that enjoy working on cars that they can do it and not lose money, even make a small bit. It's not designed to show a great business oppurtunity.

    It's an hour long program, they can't fit in 25 minutes of sledging and swearing to get a balljoint bet out.

    Yeh i feel the same i havent worked as a mechanic in overn ten year now but its a nice easy watch program that constantly bring back memories that i like.

    Brewer dont bother me his what he is ive seen worse.

    I never realised they built 4x4 panda's at all let alone back then,they may be a fiat by they were a decent car,pity about the paint job on last night's program though.rolling on car paint is awful.

    Yhh they were pretty popular just didnt have much power even with the uno fire engine they didnt have much to drive all four wheels. The new generation panda has a 4x4 variant too but i have no experience of them.

    what are the opinions of the conversion?the green is a really nice colour,the face of the car is not what I would normally be used to,is that a specific tyoe for the dutch market of the time?

    My brother is a mechanic and he is like that. When he is at a car nothing goes untouched. I got him to rebuild the engine of my DC2 and there wasn't a clip that wasn't new or a bolt that wasn't polished.

    Some mechanics are hatchet merchants but alot aren't.

    I have to say i like the show but i echo other peoples comments here, Mike is fairly annoying, his parts always come across as contrived.

    A great show, my favourite being the black bmw m5.
    Ed is brilliant, he can do anything to a car. Mike is annoying with his "old out yerrand"
