Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Whatever about the first bit, he did mention the balancing.

Yeah, it was a very casual mention though. Easily missed.

Calling threadlock 'orange glue' was a step too far in the dumbing down IMHO - We're not morons, we can handle it. :pac:

Remember, he's talking to Americans. It's a wonder he didn't call it a big spinny thing :D

He did call the turbines 'fans'. :D

There's about 40 people around feeding him information so explaining how a turbo is hardly going to determine if he is good or not.

Just watched the first episode of new series and didn't really miss Ed to be honest. I thought it was a good episode overall. Turbo recondition was well explained and the prototyping of the third wing was well done. If anyone has ever worked with fibreglass before they will know how messy and hard work it can be!!

I know the show it heavily scripted buy Ant and Mike looked like they had better chemistry than Ed and Mike ever had, either that or Ant is a better actor.

That turbo summary was dumbed down far too much IMHO. He implied that they are simple components that work away unaided by fancy electronics when in fact the boost has to be monitored by sensors, and controlled with a wastegate, and ECU etc.
    .

They can work away unaided by electronics if you set the system up to do so.

    Just watched the new one
The 3rd wing is poorly mounted when the car is spinning around on the platform. Then they dont really show it again.I wonder was it a just glued on for the show so they didnt drill holes in the boot lid.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Watched it last night. Don't have much love for the car, so there's a fairly neutral start. Never liked Ant much in other programs (anyone watch the cringeworthy show with him and Philip Glennister: For the love of cars?) although I knew he was a capable mechanic. But he seems to really enjoy this role and his enthusiasm makes a huge difference. Loved his simple explanation of the workings of the turbo.

And Mike, being the "more senior" party in the show now, seems more confident and his confidence makes him a bit calmer, toned down. And all the better for it

The combination of the two works perfectly. Dare I say it, I prefer it to Edd & Mike's previous few series. Loved it, will watch the whole series for sure

I like it too. They did a nice sympathetic resto on the Toyota Supra in the 2nd episode.

    ^ Celica Supra....

Don't really miss Ed, The buying/selling bits are as cringey as ever though.... Ant seems decent.

Watched episode 3 last night. A Mustang Mach 1. Very nice muscular yank tank.

Ant is pretty good. Brewer is Brewer.

Watched episode 1, not bad.. Ant is decent. It doesn't line up with what Edd said about the production company not wanting to do detailed breakdowns.

The only thing I didn't like about brewer was when he used to turn up and work on the car himself because seemingly Edd wasn't there.

Now im thinking was that a message to Edd in the last series to get his sh1t together.

Hardly matters any more. Ant is a super mechanic, as was Edd.

Doesn't matter a bit I always liked ant and I think he is brilliant doing wheeler dealers now too it's brought life back into what was becoming a full enough show.

Just watched the first couple of new episodes with Ant. Hi is really a fantastic fit, looks to be a suberb mechanic and is more natural than Ed, the dynamic between the two is much more natural. They also seem back to their best in terms of explaining what is going on in great detail, and fixing stuff instead of just sending parts out for repair, the last series really seemed to have moved away from that.

I'm a big Ed fan but based on what I've seen he won't be missed at all, I suspect he may have over played his hand and miscalculated.

I know it's probably sacrilege to say this but after the first the episodes I do think Ant is a better fit for the show at this stage. He seems to have loads of enthusiasm and he reminds me of Will Ferrell in that Christmas movie the way he seems to get excited by everything.
He seems also to have a more "matey" relationship with Mike (who I always liked in his own way).
If the rest of the episodes keep going like this I can see Edd's catchphrase changing from where's Edd to who's Edd and I was always a big fan of his.

He retired from the show after series 12 and now is working at home afaik. Someone asked the same question on ask edd so the answer should be there.

Sometimes they hold off until they get a full run of all episodes, a lot of the US networks shut down for thanksgiving and Christmas leaving big gaps so the preference was to wait until they had a full run to start showing them with no gaps.

Just watched the first episode, I normally hate when Mike goes changing alloys to newer types but on the Escort they really looked so much better than the originals...that was until before he bloody destroyed them with powdercoating them white. Changing the wing was a nice touch purely seeing as one of the original designers wanted it that way to begin with, $5000 though for it wasn't worth it. I liked Ants diagrams he was drawing to explain stuff like how a turbo works, not sure if that's going to be a normal part of each show or a one off.

On a side note Mike looks like he's a candidate to have a heart attack, the US heat is not suiting him.

Just watched the Saab 96 - brilliant episode!

Loved that Mike did not just buy the car, that potentially had a fault that would make it just about worthless, but instead called for Ant to come look.

Watched the latest ep too. All American, doing up a petrol bus, but they did a very good job even though I don't agree with the money spent.

Anyone know more about Anthony Anstead? He really is super in this role. Also looks very fit. Like he lifts heavy weights, not like the curl bros or body builders you find in your local gym.

Me too please, I was just watching an old episode this morning, the VW splitscreen which was followed by an old Ford pickup. Brewer came in looking at the purchase of the Ford and rattled off various facts about the pickup as if he’s that knowledgeable of all the motors they look at purchasing. He’s only devoured data prior to lights, camera action !!

Looks like Ed China has egg on his face now that Wheeler Dealers didn't disintegrate. His diva stunt backfired it seems. The new Episodes are good.

I wouldn't judge it on the first series alone.

I would if he isn't suited to the role or didnt click with Mike it would show straight away I prefer him to Ed of recent years I like the added touch of his diagrams and some little things he brings to it.

I just like the way they aren't at eachother all the time. Edd moaning about the work to be done got very boring..

Wheeler Dealers is running since 2003.

To me and many others it is clear the Brewer isn't suited to it but is somehow still there.

Antstead seems ok for now, but i would like to see him paired with someone new altogether.

I dont agree with what you say about brewer id say alot of people dont like him but majority are fans of him the fact that the show continues to do so well is testament to people liking him.

Look at shows like top gear if people don't like the person on the screen they will stop watching no matter what the format.

When did they drop the episode setup where mike would 'trawl' local papers and 'enthusiast' sites to find a car to buy? I only noticed it in the new series.

I think thats a bit unfair, Edd doesn't seem like the vindictive type. I am sure that was not his intention, but if you are not happy in a situation, surely you need to move or do something.Maybe he is glad for it to be a success?

I haven't seen any of the new shows, so I dont know where ye are all seeing them.

Top gear isn't great since the 3 boyo's left, or 2 and 1 sacked if you will.

I find many programs are interesting on TV, that doesn't mean i find the host/presenter is good at it, i'd watch Antstead all day.
