Budget Heating Control system

Hi all,
Looking on some advice here please. I live in rented accommodation with a new boiler fitted last year when we moved in. It is a Glow Worm Flexicom 18SX. It seems to keep the place fairly warm so far and is very efficient on gas.
My question here is that it is only controlled by a simple "pips" timer connected below the boiler.
Is there any sort of budget thermostat or linked controller i can use to control when the heat comes on based on temperature rather than just time. Something i can fit myself (fairly competent in electrics) and/or something i can remove if we ever leave please?
Any advice is greatly appreciated, i have looked at Next and this seems expensive to me but maybe this is just what they cost?

Google EPH Wireless thermostats.

No matter how compatant you are it has to be legaly an RGII regestered engineer to open and work on a gas boiler if that's required.

Bear in mind your hot water programming - how's it done, or do you even have a cylinder?

Understand and respect that any work inside the boiler I will definitely get a registered gas installer, but the controls are outside and should not require any work on the boiler at all from what i understand.
I checked EPH but the information is sparse on their website unfortunately, descriptions empty etc...:(

The hot water is not separate to an extent, it warms up while heating is on but is on the same controls, though there is a separate immersion on the cylinder in the hot press and timer control for this for use during summer.
That honeywell device looks good, does it simply replace the pip timer thats there currently though? Is the thermostat built in or can i have one in another room (Such as living area and/or child's bedroom)

The Salus IT500 seems to be getting great reviews and is very resonably proced on Amazon (Much higher on local sites for same kit).
