Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Liverpool-vs-Real-Madrid.png

Liverpool need to break their balls to get a result here...

    Mod Note:
Wow, the United vs Pool arguements breaking out already?

Lads, both sides can get over that right now. As a match thread on a general soccer forum, everyone is allowed participate, and both sides should accept that this is a big game between Liverpool and Real Madrid. Please let's drop the "obsession" talk, please let's not turn this into a thread discussing United.

    Discuss Liverpool vs Real Madrid.

3 nil to Liverpool with Ronaldo, bale and James all scoring own goals. Cakewalk

Can see this being much the same as last time, Madrid will end up comfortable playing without hammering them!

Liverpool will need a miracle to win tonight.

    Might aswell park the bus.

You could swap Ronaldo for David N'Gog and they'd still make mince meat of our defence

Might as well play on the front foot -no point in sitting there waiting for the inevitable defeat. Show some pride!

This match and thread will be enjoyable, although sadly not for Liverpool fans.

What odds on Ronaldo scoring more than one goal tonight?

6/4 on Paddy Power, decent odds considering the form he's in.

    From a Liverpool fan:
The problem with parking the bus is we don't have a bus. We don't even have a minivan. We have one of those three-wheel Renault things. The bonnet is tied down with twine.

I worry for Liverpool tonight. Madrid were at Anfield last time and had one eye barca at thh weekend and they still found it easy going. They could very well humiliate Liverpool tonight if they so wished

I honestly don't think they will. They could've done it at Anfield but they didn't, can't see anything different tonight if they are in the position.

If Liverpool play like they they did in the second half against 'Ronnie' FC last time out they should get at least a point tonight as 'Ronnie' caused them no problems.

Can't see them getting the goal to take the three points though.

Ronaldo will probably be hoping to break that record before Messi has a chance tomorrow...

The 2nd half in that game was treated as a training session for Madrid, the emphasis was on conserving energy & not getting injuries as the Clasico was only a few days later.
People who think Liverpool's play in that 2nd half of that game is a yardstick for tonight are deluded.Liverpool were beaten by then & Madrid took their foot off the gas & were safe in the knowledge that the result wasn't changing.

I'd prefer the 7/4 they're offering for Ronaldo to outscore Liverpool. Even if he only gets one it's hard to see where Liverpool will score from.

Probably the most pessimistic I've ever been going into a Liverpool match. I'd say Real Madrid will win 4-0 but it could be more if they go full throttle for 90 minutes.

2-0 or 3-0 With Gitsy and co not breaking a sweat 2nd half.

You mean the half where Real eased off after securing the win in the first half(starting with a great "Ronnie" goal)?

Yeah I doubt they'll play like that for the 90 minutes at home.

I have to agree with this.

Madrid clearly took it handy after HT against us.

It was like a child attacking an adult tbh. Real Madrid just held out their hand, put it on our head and we ran at it, our arms wailing beside us.

Hopefully we put in a better performance tonight, but I doubt it.

Yep, but solid at the back. Really need the attack to step up tonight.

Read a stat today that Ronaldo has scored more goals than the liverpool strikers have had shots on target. Not sure of the veracity of that but regardless the man is in insatiable form can't see him not scoring.. But I think Real will find it a bit harder tonight against a stubborn L'Pool. I'm going 3-1 Real with the last goal in the 92nd min when LFC are caught pants down chasing a draw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Regardless of the result tonight, the way the group is setup, LFC still have a great chance of finishing 2nd in this group thanks to Basel making a balls of their last game.

As of right now, if Liverpool pick up 6 points from their 3 games they should finish 2nd.

Not that it will matter tonight, a routine Real win I suspect.

3 nil down at half time, with the 2nd and 3rd goals being due to awful defending is hardly solid at the back.

Hate to say it but Real Madrid at -3 goals looks a good price at 10/3.
