Again, CEO Mueller was misquoted by the press on that day.

Both Turkish and Ryanair are to make big announcements tomorrow, I'm thinking AMS and CPH with Ryanair, still not sure what Turkish will announce seeing as they have only very recently increased frequency.

Read the article you linked to....
Mueller was interviewed by the Indo last summer......was asked about Dallas...his response was "it is certainly an interesting destination"

    From the article quoted above:
.......in an interview with the Irish Independent, Mueller confirmed that new services are already on track and would come to fruition before he leaves the Irish airline next May.

He said: "I will not mention any destinations, but we have very concrete plans........

..................But Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) chief, Kevin Toland, has already given a strong indication that a service to Dallas is very much on the cards

EI have already announced their new flights....
4x weekly to IAD, increased frequency to MCO and SFO, early DUB-JFK for peak season, increased capacity from SNN over the peak season.

The 'big' Turkish announcement was just confirming going double daily. Very disappointing.

"Dublin Airport welcomes Turkish Airlines’ announcement today to fly double daily to Istanbul from March 29 this year. “We are delighted that Turkish Airlines has decided to go double daily on its Istanbul route,” said Dublin Airport Managing Director, Vincent Harrison. “The airline has gone from strength to strength since it started flying from Dublin to Istanbul almost 10 years ago. This is the third successive year for Turkish Airlines to increase frequency on its Dublin route. “This increase in frequency by Turkish Airlines will see improved connectivity between the two cities giving both leisure and business passengers increased flexibility for travel onto their extensive network from Istanbul,” Mr. Harrison added.Making today’s announcement Turkish Airlines General Manager, Murat Balandi said: “Last year passenger numbers on our Dublin to Istanbul route increased by 21% when compared to 2013. Istanbul is becoming more popular for long weekend breaks and we have seen great growth in our leisure market to South Africa and Thailand as well as in the corporate market to the Middle East and Far Asia.” Flights depart Dublin at 11.00am arriving Istanbul 17.20 daily except on Tuesday when the flight departs at 16.40 arriving at 23.05. daa will continue to work closely with Turkish Airlines to progress further growth opportunities in 2015. "

    What exactly did you expect?

Going double daily is another step forward and means better connectivity with long haul destinations.

It's to be welcomed, and not to be disappointed about.

They'd already announced it, so something else was to be expected from a new announcement really

They'd announced it, but this was the formal launch.

They were hardly going to increase frequency further before even going to double daily.

I can't see them increasing beyond that for some time yet.

It depends upon when the flights are timed.

There are plenty of times during the day when there are stands available.

well the way things are going i think they should be looking to the future and thinking about it.

Yeah it seems so but rather than WiFi it's FREE in-flight entertainment that will be launched on Dublin summer routes.

They also confirmed that they have done test runs for turn-around times at Schiphol.

There are numerous plans for additional stands.

But they are not needed at present.

Go through the DAA capital expenditure plans and you can read about them at length.

I flew with the Irish based crew/aircraft to Crete in 2013 and apart from the aircraft being very old (737-300) it was a pleasant experience for a flight of 4-4.5hrs

Four operators now, one more than daily in summer - someone's going to blink this year.

Ryanair are using the worst terminal in the entire airport if not the known universe* at CPH, not that that's really a concern for many people.

*this may be an overstatement, but not by much
