Rarely wrecked after a long run and could always run on.

I might add an extra day of 3-5 miles to prepare for moving on to 6 days running in the next plan and see how that goes.

    Thanks,
    Ed

    Mon 23rd
    10 miles @9:46

A nice gentle run after the weekend on some rolling hills.
Have to shuffle the plan around this week and bring the long runs forward to Thursday an Friday so going to take the pace nice and easy and just tick the miles box.

I KNOW! I read that earlier and had to re-read it a few times! I'd love some more detail EdMc!

edit: and can't open the garmin link :(

Need to work on my link technique.

Anyway had breakfast before this run due to the strength of the anti inflammatory I'm on. Dropped the kids to school and was free 'til before 3 when they needed to be collected. Brought 300ml of water with plan of a refill at a spring I know, a banana and some salted peanuts.
Expected snow, rain and hail so was well wrapped up, got all three.
The plan was let the body dictate the pace and take it nice and easy. Hadn't fully decided the route but after 6miles I chose to make it hilly. Felt very strong and comfortable throughout the run.
Legs are feeling ready to do it all again tomorrow, albeit not as long.

Got a new watch with some fancy readings.

    Distance 28 miles
    Avg. pace 9:09 min. Miles
    Avg. hr. 146
    Avg. cadence 166
    Avg. ground contact time 273ms
    Avg vertical oscillation 9.00cm
    Elevation 2300ft.

    Edit: tried again https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/706435046

    Fri 27th

    22.26 miles @ 9:20
    Hr. 137
    Elev. 944ft.

Up at 5:30 for this one on the road by 6am.
No breakfast and just some water from mile 12. Took the first couple of miles very easy to warm up, managed to find a comfortable pace and got on with it.
Was just looking to get this run done and dusted really. I've covered 110miles in the last seven days and although all the miles were easy effort I was anxious not to injure myself.
Happy to tick off another set of back to backs. Have a step back week next week and start another push the following week.

Got a new book on stretches and got a bit carried away doing them.

    Sun 1st
    Plan was 10 mile with 3×2 @hmp.
Struggled through the warm up and it became apparent i had over done the stretching and hadn't fully recovered from last week.
packed it in at 3 miles.

    Mon 2nd
    Rest

    Tue 3rd
Still wasn't feeling great, aches and pains so took an extra rest day.

    Wed 4th
    5 miles @8:36

    Thurs 5th
    9 miles @ 8:15

    Fri 6th
    Rest

    Sat 7th
    17 miles @ 8:46

    Sun 8th
    20 miles
The watch died at 16.5 miles.
    Details at that point were
    9:20 min. miles
elevation 1800 ft. Took off the hrm early to save battery.

A fantastic run, a few showers but a beautiful day. Discovered some new forestry and a few miles of fire road, some fantastic views over lough swilly and river foyle at the top.

My only day off from work this week so had to get it done.
Away at 6:45am into the wind and rain. A banana some nuts and some water.
Felt good physically all through the run but the weather made it mentally challenging.
To top it off I had an ice bath straight after which was nearly as hard as the run itself but I find the benefits huge.

    Fri 13th

Left calf muscle had a knot in it so got the physio to do ten minutes on it for me and put some tape on.
Headed straight after work for this one.
Legs felt really good. Didn't bring any food or water but felt quiet thirsty during the last 4 miles, I'll bring water on these in the future.
    Another ice bath after.

    Sat 14th

    Legs like led.

A better run than I expected and the body felt reasonably well.

For anyone following this log I thought it would be courteous to tell you that I won't be logging in the foreseeable future.
I am still enjoying reading about running but am currently bored writing about it.

I'm in great health and fitness and have decided to race Connemara.
Following on from that I've changed my goal and I'll be attempting Belfast 24hrs.
I still haven't ruled out conn100 if I feel ok with the intention of using all 30 allocated hours( just for the craic).
    Wish me luck.

    Ed.

The plan for Connemara was a simple one.
Run an 8min mile for as long as I could.

I figured on a 3:30 marathon to start.
Take leenaun hill nice and easy and see what was left in the tank.
I would be happy with anything sub 5:30 so this pretty much meant
Running the last half marathon no slower than 9min. Miles.

This plan worked out better than expected.

    Connemara ultra 39.3 miles
    Avg pace 8:09 min. Miles
    Avg hr. 158
    Finish time 5:23:20

    Thanks ososlo,

Roughly ran my taper week in reverse this week. Had to restrain myself from anything longer this weekend. I feel great but trying to be smart at the same time.
    No aches or niggles.

That's pretty good going, Ed! Are you still targeting the CNM100? When is that on?

Well done in Connemara, Ed... looks like training in the hills stood to you. How's the recovery? you certainly don't seem to have missed a beat.

    Thanks annapr,

It's hard to avoid the hills around here on the long runs, but I really enjoy them at the same time.I always take a minute to enjoy my prize at the top, the view. I keep an eye on the heart rate on them and don't worry too much about the pace.
I certainly feel recovered from conn. Have had a shin issue for a while now, nothing that prevented miles just speed, but have it sorted now fingers crossed and felt good today after some faster stuff.

Thanks for popping over, I can't keep up with all the logs on here.

I suspect it will be more easily read than run.

Edit: I've great admiration for your perseverance and dedication, I really hope you reap the benefits.
