Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Running a stove flue up through upstairs bedroom and attic?

    I have a kitchen with no chimney and was hoping to fit a small room heater stove at some point. It's a dormer so fitting against the back wall isn't possible as the flue has to go above the ridge line?

    The only alternative is to fit the stove at the other side of the room which would be the 'middle' of the house and run the flue up through the ceiling, through the upstairs bedroom and attic and out through the roof that way.
    Is that a safe option in terms of the flue in these areas or is it something that is done regularly?

    I'm in a similar situation. I would like to have a wood burning stove but there is not enough height on the external wall to attach the flue. So running it up internally at an angle and then out through the slate roof might be a solution. And before anybody just posts a link to the regs I have read these and know that what I am thinking about is compliant. I was just wondering if anybody had any pictures or suppliers details they could provide.

    2.5.8 A metal system chimney should not:
    (a) pass through any part of the building
    forming a separate compartment, unless
    it is cased in non-combustible material
    giving at least half the fire resistance of
    the compartment wall or floor (see
    Technical Guidance Document B - Fire
    Safety); as the op was talking about running the flue up through a bedroom it is always good to post the regs
