If any of you are on the panel and haven't heard any more from the PAS, contacting them may be in your interest. I did and I was told that because I live outside of Dublin and the current jobs are all in Dublin, it was presumed I wouldn't be interested. I expressed my interest and am due to start at the end of the month.

    Madness.....fair play on start...anywhere nice? :)

I'm still hoping they interview a few more...

Not all the posts that Departments have requested sanction (to DPER) for are located in Dublin- a significant number of them are in other locations. The delay is on DPER sanctioning the posts.

Good advice though- definitely do contact PAS- if you're outside Dublin and willing to work there- in most cases, you'll get opportunities to move to other locations down the road (the back pages of the PSEU magazine has loads of people looking to transfer locations- including JSA posts.

The_Conductor, would they be ICT positions and can you explain what JSA posts are to the uninitiated, please.

Sorry- JSA- Junior Systems Analyst- is the formal title for EO ICT.
Yes- there are a few of these positions in the current issue of the PSEU mag.

What?? That's an insane presumption to make?! Especially given so many civil servants throughout the country are actively looking to move - it's not a new concept of them surely?!

Love this. And people still think the public sector get paid massive wages??

It depends on the job type and location.
I do know of a few EO's in the CS in IT based in Dublin who have left for the private sector in the past few years. Rightly so if the terms and conditions work better for them.

From comments on one of the other civil service recruitment threads- it would appear they're going through AO candidates like a hot knife through butter- as there was an assumption that the salaries were negotiable........

I hope the disappointed candidates start making noises about the bull the media have been peddling.

What have the media been saying?

I assume what the_conductor means is that the media have been portraying civil servants as greedy and overpaid for the past 7 years.

Just had a call from PAS to ask if I'm still interested. Apparently they're working their way through the list and they're holding interviews in early October.

The closing date was November 2014!

There are new Graduate Roles currently advertised on PublicJobs.ie, (Probably AO grade)

Those grad roles don't seem to be technical roles though, they seem to be financial / economic / business roles

Yes, they aren't specifically ICT roles.

Anyone any feedback on these interviews/roles? Are they technical format? My better half is doing one tomorrow, she's not sure if she's too bothered as she is happy enough where she is but I am encouraging her to give it a shot. We are in the west though so from what I have read here these roles are pretty much all Dublin based so she might well be right! Still, not in cant win and all of that is my motto.

I have an interview for EO ICT tomorrow also. I cant remember what the starting pay is. Anyone know?
Im happy out in a new job though so its no pressure.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,661 ✭✭✭fxotoole

@Maximus_1 the interview will be competency based. You'd have to have examples of where you have displayedthe competencies given in the appendix of the application form.

With regard to salary, it's somewhere around €30k. I don't have the exact figure to hand but if you google Executive Officere Salary Scale you should find it.

out of curiosity I opened this thread and then opened the information booklet

So basically the closing date for applications was 15 November 2014 and they still haven't recruited anyone.

Pretty much tells you all you need to know about the civil/public service ...... do these people live in the real world at all?

    Basically, no you are wrong.

They have recruited some, there would appear to be still some vacancies after the first and second round of the recruitment process. They have reevaluated candidates that did not make the previous cut and have called some of those to interview.

So what does these alleged facts tell you about the civil/public service? What disconnect from the real world do you see?
