Wait, there's no online aptitude test?

I'd imagine it's the same process as any normal civil service job. Maybe im wrong though

I think DPER are still of a mindset that the 'emergency' is still in place- and there will be a stampede for any public sector posts that come up. Unfortunately they're in for a bit of a rude awakening........

Edit: Under essential requirements- top of the list should be the ability to clone at least 5 copies of yourself to assist in the remarkable list of duties.

There is also no indication that you have any staff (at all) to assist with the advised duties- and there is an inference that you are expected to manage external contractors and run a tender.........

May the lord have mercy on the soul of any applicants for that post...........

got an email just now into my publicjobs message board
Further to your application for the above mentioned campaign, I wish to inform you shortlisting will be held on Wednesday 29th June 2016.
Candidates will be notified of the results early July, Interviews are likely to be held between the 11th - 22nd July.
On behalf of the Public Appointments Service I would like to thank you for your application.

So is there just an interview I wonder?
Will there be any technical tests or maybe a 2nd interview?

    The suspense is killing me!

Anyone get any news yet? Would expect it today if interviews are from the 11th

Did anyone get notified that their application was received? I only realised I had to post it in the day before the deadline. Posting applications for an IT job seems to be a bit antiquated in this day & age, but I suppose it is a museum after all!

Anybody hear anything from this yet? Said early July and interviews next week. Kind of short notice?

  • Registered Users Posts: 140 ✭✭crossbeauty

Yeah was expecting to hear last Friday but defo today. What kinda interview is to be expected? Would it be technical?

  • Registered Users Posts: 140 ✭✭crossbeauty

I have no idea. I'd be expecting a competency based interview (from reading through previous replies on this thread)
and i'm sure there'll be some sort of technical test or if not maybe 2 interviews.

Hard to know I was surprised that they don't seem to be doing an aptitude test (depends on how many applied I suppose)

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭chair28

Yeah that's true. Fingers crossed we both get called and it's not too hard. Judging from previous posts I don't know if many actually apply

I don't know if that's true. I applied in the previous EO ICT competition in November 2014 and commenced work in my department in July 2015. When we were called for the aptitude tests in February 2015, I was one of a group of 40, with two other groups scheduled for later the same day. When signing in I noticed dates on a cover sheet on the desk which indicated the tests were running for 3 weeks. If they only ran 10 days out of the 15 working days in those 3 weeks that's 1200 people who were shortlisted for aptitude tests.

On another note, the interview was completely based on the competencies that are outlined earlier in this thread. If you can interweave your IT experience/expertise into your competency examples, all the better.

I didn't hear anything about this interview one way or the other. Kind of surprised as they said expect to interview from today. 11/07/16
As it turns out I got an offer for a different job so wouldnt be doing the interview anyway.

What did you say about suspense???????

For anyone waiting, who hasn't heard back.... I wouldn't sweat it. This is the Public Sector. Things don't usually move quickly in the civil or public sectors.

Did you make the panel? I'm low 100s and they're interviewing 60. How long will panel last?
