But they said specifically that the interviews would be starting today....

I just checked the message issued to applicants public jobs accounts from the PAS on the 28th of June. In fairness to them they hoped to be interviewing by the 11th of July.

"Further to your application for the above mentioned campaign, I wish to inform you shortlisting will be held on Wednesday 29th June 2016.
Candidates will be notified of the results early July, Interviews are likely to be held between the 11th - 22nd July.
On behalf of the Public Appointments Service I would like to thank you for your application...."

Did you make the panel? I'm low 100s and they're interviewing 60. How long will panel last?

I got the same number as as mate, so the number must be a group that are called together if required. Still didn't make the panel.

Actually should you get two panels if you apply for both the "ICT Development Specialist Regional" and also the "ICT Infrastructure and Operations Specialist Regional" this seems to refer to the Development Regional only.

I've still heard nothing... maybe that's good news.

No messages and no texts, went into the publicjobs website and nothing waiting for me.

On panel but not being called for interview. Similar number to yourself. Wonder if they will call more at a later stage.

Edit: As stated above, this seems to be just the development stream.

    Infrastructure stream not out yet.

I came 49th on the panel, delighted. They're calling 60 for Dublin and 70 for regional. I'm from Kerry so regional for me. Fingers crossed..Best of luck folks..

Just missed the 60, wonder will they go over 60 for the interview process, does anyone know what number they went to on last panel?

Last time round they interviewed the first 66. Then they moved onto some more further down the list afterwards.

FYI, the cut-off is 70 for Regional

XeCompany if you are already working in the civil service why did you have to apply for the job?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 212 ✭✭razor12345

What dates are interviews running between?

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭Noisin

    65 for Dublin
70 something for regional, I need to recheck the regional score

I'm a temp EO, could be made permanent, dunno, not taking any chances. Anyway, it's ICT I want, this route guarantees it if successful..

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭Noisin

Ok so temporary staff had to apply for this if wanted permanent. I didn't know that. Well the best of luck, sounds like you have the experience and the time done in there. Was wondering how they place people in order of merit on this panel, I have a conversion course level 8 and my masters in level 9, Level 8 in IT computing and software then masters in IT Security, to be completed in September please god, cannot wait. I have no ICT experience. My original background is construction. Think I did well to get this far, last time I came 195 I think after the appitute test, I'd have to recheck it, I know I was only a few numbers short of being called for an interview, I was waiting and waiting then I got an email they were closing the panel, so was shocked when they advertised more jobs.
Any advise on what to study xECompany just in case I get called surely they'll be a couple dropouts from interview stage.

It's the only way to get promoted anymore, everything is an open competition.

Does anyone know if we get results of the infrastructure stream or are they lumped in together?

I'm a permanent CO but temporary EO, hence my application for this competition. My EO contract is up for review again end of Sep and at that stage, they could revert me to a lower grade, nothing I could do if they did. My Dept is the worst at promoting and looking after staff. As previously mentioned, I have been in an acting EO position for 8 yrs of my 17 yr civil service career, wouldn't happen in the private imo, would have been promoted long ago.

Best of luck Noisin, hopefully you will be reached.

I am in the HSE , ICT for ten years plus 4 contract, Grade bloody 3 (clerical) hence my application, is there no regularization for acting roles in EO after a few years in the position ?

No- is the short and simple.
The only way to get promoted to a higher grade- is through competition.
Once upon a time you got automatic progression if you were in a post for over 3 years- however, that was over 10 years ago.

Now- everything is done via the open competition- if you're good at the computerised tests you may do brilliantly- if you're not- you may make a wonderful EO/HEO/AP but you'll never get the opportunity.

Not in the civil service. However I think it is ridiculous that everything is based on computerised testing or written for that matter. Surely managers should be able to recommend people. Fully aware that all the risks of favourtism or the opposite apply but there could be some fifty fifty.

Full disclosure I did aptitude tests in college back in 02/03. Didn't score well and maybe some of my anxt is from that experience

I applied for both streams too and positioned mid 30's for the development stream. Would prefer infrastructure stream tbh.

Would you be ineligible for the other stream if not successful in this one?

There are valid arguments on both sides of the equation- however, there is a defacto lack of promotional prospects for candidates who for whatever reason don't score well on the computerised or aptitude tests........

Latest policy from DPER- is no officers should be in post for over 4 years- aka officers should be cycled between Divisions and if necessary- locations- just to give officers greater experience which would presumably stand to them in interviews.
