I applied for both streams too and positioned mid 30's for the development stream. Would prefer infrastructure stream tbh.

Would you be ineligible for the other stream if not successful in this one?

Wouldn't imagine so. I'd say we'll get the results of the infrastructure stream soon. I would have thought they'd come out at the same time though

    My take on this is:-

The heading on the email that PAS sent us I believe (could be wrong?)is for both streams.

Campaign Name: Information Communications Technology ICT Specialists in the Civil Service.

Then the email states that Candidates will have 1 interview to cover both the Dublin and Regional panels for the Specialist Development Role.

It does not state in my email whether the same applies for the ICT Infrastructure and Operations Specialist...

I applied ONLY for the infrastructure and operations as I have no experience or interest in the other stream.

I have had no communication yet from them with regards to whether I was shortlisted or not.

    Waiting.... patiently!

Just curious, for those who have been shortlisted have you been given an interview date?

    Thanks for the update.

I wonder how the order of merit was established.

I more certified in infrastructure but have some experience in development.

I am in the HSE , ICT for ten years plus 4 contract, Grade bloody 3 (clerical) hence my application, is there no regularization for acting roles in EO after a few years in the position ?

Sorry lads, no access to boards at work and internet recp is ****e, lol. My 8yrs an EO is not consecutive. The Dept breaks it up nicely to protect themselves. I am currently 3yrs an EO(temp) consecutively at end of September. I have heard I may be entitled to permanency if in the role consecutively for 4 yrs. What's the betting they will pull the plug before I reach that point as i an subject to a 6 monthly review. The control is all on their side. The uncertainty for me is a killer. I'm in the same section 14 yrs as it is specialist. My promotion was within that section. Being over colleagues now albeit in a temp position can be challenging as you get the begrudgers. I hope to change all that with this comp :-)

Yes the campaign name was in the heading, but the email subject said 'ICT Development Specialist'. I reckon there'll be another for the infrastructure stream.

Okay between us all think we figured it out that there will be an infrastructure panel email with placing on the way..

    Hope uguys are successful :-)

My skills are more Software Development but I did apply for the Infrastructure stream.

If that is the way PAS are setting up the interviews then you can't get much fairer than that!

Wonder if other PS departments ie. Health and Justice are included in this recruitment campaign?

I got called for early August too. The interviews in 2015 were competency based and considering there were no aptitude tests etc. this time, I'd presume they will be competency based.

Not a whole lot of time to prepare tbh. Please let us know how you get on, impressions etc

    Best of luck

Well Done.... so you are one of the first wondering what they will ask you as examples on the application form were very specific and kinda unique to each application

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,674 ✭✭✭Sup08

    Kinda bricking it already!!

Only done my first interview with PAS that was based on the competencies 2 years ago, to start as a CO. Done quiet well then so I am hoping that they are similar, all be it that this is for an EO position with the added management competencies.

Yet you want a job there??? I'm a Civil Servant & it's sweeping comments like yours that pi$$ off those of us that do our job proficiently.

Calm down. I'm a civil servant myself. As a civil servant I have first hand experience of how slowly things move.

Still doesn't change the sentiment of my post...funny that YOU "have first hand experience of how slowly things move"!

    & I'm quite calm thanks...I'm on a week's leave :)

I think this is just what they are saying if you didn't make it into the 125. My email says I'm also 126th with them only interviewing 125 for Regional. For my Dublin Application I was told I was 89th with them only interviewing 88.

Sorry to hear that but as these competitions normally go, there maybe other rounds of interviews. So best of luck to you.

I didn't get a placement number for the infrastructure stream so don't know where I came in the order of merit.

    Was everyone told their number?

Has anyone else been called for interview next week?

No didn't get a number at all, no mention of where I was placed. Just given interview date.

I've heard this from other competitions too. Although I think if they rate each application with a numerical value, it stands to reason that there could be a few in joint place.
