I know there is a lot of competitions going on at the moment (co , eo heo and ap )but there really should be some movement or at least some communication even if its to say nothing is happening till new year or whatever

Has anyone rung them to see what the delay is?

I have rang a few times, they always say it will be a week or two. I did not bother ringing last week, it was the week before.
I did the online exam for the AO over the weekend, it was hard enough.

i just got a phone call from pas there kind of out of the blue as I am in the Fifties on the Regional Infrastructure panel, she was wondering what my location preferences were and in what order.... so I listed my preferences out to her
and she didn't ask anything else and neither did I. They would have had my preferences anyway from the form but maybe this indicates some movement finally.

    Did anyone get similar call?

Note I am only on the Regional infrastructure panel (not dublin and not development).

I also got a call just now regarding my preferred 2 work location choices. I was in Dublin and Regional Infra panel. I told only interested in Dublin and she told that is fine.

Have you had any notice period for your old job? Would they wait till the notice period is over?

Also would Public Jobs let you know the address of the job location before or after the reference check / Medical questionnaire / Qualification check etc?

BTW if you are in 2 streams and 2 locations, you are removed from all other streams and locations once you accept an offer.

You don't get the option of any other stream if you are placed in both, once you accept.

I contacted Public Jobs via email and was told that they called till number 19 on Dublin Infrastructure panel.

That's good news. There is movement so. I would imagine even greater movement on the dev panel as more were being interviewed. Hopefully the regional panels will also start moving soon.

It definitely gives the word "shortly" a new meaning

message on public jobs from early September

"There are vacancies for all the candidates placed on the panel. This office will be in touch with you shortly regarding your appointment. "

Weird, I got placed 19th on the Dublin Infrastructure panel, as per the message from September. I rang up early last month to find out if their had been any news, and got told that 6 people ahead of me had been taken off the panel. Now I don't know what the story is.

Posting the email I send and received below, just to prove that I am not making up this story:

    Hi abc,
May I know till what number from ICT Infra Dublin panel was called for a role? May I know the approximate time frame for you to call me as I have to book my holidays?

    Dear xyz,
Thank you for your email. We have reached place 19 on this panel. It is not possible to advise when you are likely to be called for appointment. This is dependent on the requirements of the Government Departments and Offices.

I did the second batch of interviews, got panelled fairly ok at 20 but there's 19 ahead of me so I'm guessing a good few more after me got interviewed and panelled and also those who didn't get panelled. If there not pulling many off the first batch from reading this forum there up at 19 or thereabouts, why did the bother doing more interviews and panelling more people. From my letter does not say if we got panelled that it meant an offer, whereas reading this forum that's what yee got told on the first batch of interviews, if you got panelled that you would receive an offer. Just wondering are we just a back up plan or are we even going to get an consideration. Any one else in the same boat as me p, did the second round of interviews.

I am well inside the top 20 on the Dublin infrastructure panel and I have heard nothing yet. A friend of mine near the top is starting soon enough.

Mr Sam is on the regional panel and got a call last week re a position in Cork. He hadn't selected Cork City so turned down the position. He is still on the panel though. He is in the under the 50's for Infastructure outside Dub.

Could the Public Appointments really be so disorganised ?

. They told us they would have jobs "shortly" over 2 months ago.
. Then they said that they had to check with the departments to see how many people were needed.
. Now it looks like they are just selecting random people and not actually sticking to the numbered order.
. If you call them you are left with the feeling that you have annoyed them by calling.
It definitely shows that the public and private sectors are two different worlds. Don't get me wrong, I still want the job, but its amazing how inefficient they are at their work.
