Just a general question about these. Can someone wait to see if something comes along in their preferred location? See example below

Your Order Of Merit for your chosen location(s) are as follows:

    Preference 1- 2 Dublin
    Preference 2- 1 Galway
    Preference 3- 3 Longford
    Preference 4- 1 Cork

Would prefer to remain in Dublin but do you HAVE to take what's offered or can you wait for Dublin

To be honest, in all likelihood, the majority of the positions will be in Dublin. With this in mind, being number 2 for Dublin, you'll probably be offered a position in Dublin long before any positions arise in Galway or Longford.

haven't heard a peep , i'm in the software development stream and a colleague is in the top 5 for infrastructure , neither of us have heard anything. i expect it'll be a few weeks before anything happens.

Have not heard anything but my top 4 locations were all midlands based (Westmeath, Offaly, Laois & Longford) so it could be a very long time before any jobs opportunities arise in any of those Counties.

The results are out 2 weeks now. Surely they have departments waiting on ICT positions to be filled when they ran the competition.

Are there any vacancies with Garda?

  • Registered Users Posts: 49 Technologic25

It said yes for specialist roles

Infor the Infrastructure stream I got an OOM of 11 Dublin. Is the good or bad? It's my first time applying for a civil service position.
I'm guessing it depends on how many positions are available for Dublin. Has anyone heard any feedback on how many positions are available?

Yup. 28th for the software stream in Dublin, exact same email.

Apparently Agriculture has a pretty sizable ICT side, according to folks in my office, so it makes sense multiple people would have been called up.

Hi McBrowne-yes-DH had only Dublin down. As a point of info he was lower down the software panel (24th) than the infrastructure one (15th) so assuming they are proceeding with the software panel first.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm only on the software panel but not in Dublin.

Hi, good to see a bit of movement in the software queue. Does anyone have experience of these types of situations?. With 20 or so people getting that email from agriculture, does that mean that they need that amount of new staff or will they go through the applications and pick out who they want for a smaller number of vacancies?

just heard a whisper that some applicants seeded higher that 30+ have been assigned and confirmed to Garda.

No, they have been given a position with Garda and will start in about 12 weeks time.

That sounds promising for people above 30 on the OOM. I presume those Garda jobs are in HQ in The Phoenix Park.

This for infrastructure? I havent heard anything yet. Top 20...wonder would they all be in PP?
